Jamil Tucker dismissed from team

Virginia forward Jamil Tucker has been dismissed from the men's basketball team, the school announced Tuesday in a statement. The statement cited "academic reasons" as the cause for dismissal.

“We expect our student-athletes to perform to certain standards academically and Jamil has not met those standards,” Coach Tony Bennett said in a statement. “We wish him well and will provide assistance where we can, but he is no longer a member of our team.”

Tucker took an indefinite leave of absence on Nov. 11. He returned to practice on Nov. 27, but had not played for the Cavaliers this season.

In 88 career games, Tucker averaged 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds a game.

This kid was no loss to the team...but he needs to wise up, and get his act together.

Big loss. His shooting ability and height would have added a nice dimension to the offense.

terpin, yep, this non-team at Virginia is the same program that has beaten the Terps 4 out of the last 6 games. Let us know when Maryland has a team.
