Will Virginia add a sixth player to 2010 recruiting class?
The question about Virginia's future point guard situation has been raised in this space, and there's been buzz recently indicating that the possibility remains of adding a sixth player to the 2010 recruiting class. Of course, that would mean a scholarship player would need to leave early -- whether for the NBA, or more likely as transfer. (Virginia signed five players on the autumn, and currently has only five open scholarships.)
A report from The Providence Journal suggests Virginia might add Worcester Academy guard Billy Baron, the son of Rhode Island Coach Jim Baron. He is currently committed to playing for his father at URI, although he did not sign a letter of intent. Older brother Jimmy Baron starred for the Rams, so the pedigree is there.
"When an ACC school comes calling, you have to listen," Jim Baron told the Journal. "I don't know yet. I'm going to have to sit down with Billy and talk about it. We have to do what's right for Billy."
