FINAL: Virginia 3, Oklahoma 2
Virginia is one win away from another trip to Omaha after Saturday's 3-2 victory over Oklahoma. Danny Hultzen pitched a gem, throwing eight innings (and 130 pitches) while allowing only two earned runs on six hits and striking out nine. His only walk came on the first at-bat of the game.
Hultzen was helped by Dan Grovatt's two-run home run, which gave the Cavaliers a lead and puts them in great position entering Saturday.
The Cavaliers have excelled during the past two seasons when their back has been against the wall. Now, Virginia must prove it can put a team away.
"We have played well this year with our backs against the wall, but our backs haven't been against the wall very much," O'Connor said. "If you're going to win championships, at this point, in the final 16 and then moving forward, you got to put people away when you have a chance to put them away."
Much to come tomorrow on the following topics:
- Danny Hultzen's performance
- Dan Grovatt's home run
- Oklahoma throwing their ace
