FINAL: Virginia 5, St. John's 3
Virginia advances to the super regionals next weekend after a 5-3 victory over St. John's to hold off the Red Storm in an elimination game. The Cavaliers play Oklahoma for a chance at their second consecutive College World Series.
"I told the team last night and I told the team before we went out for batting practice today that they've got something special about them that they've had all year," Coach Brian O'Connor said. "They've been very resilient, obviously they're talented, and they performed in the clutch today."
Much to get into the coming days, both from this game and entering next weekend. Among the topics:
- Branden Kline's start
- Kevin Arico's save
- Dan Grovatt's throw
- Keith Werman's contributions
- Danny Hultzen's status
...And much more. Some quick tidbits:
- Virginia has not lost back-to-back games all year
- This team's 50 wins is a program record
- Charlottesville will host its first super regional

Every time the Baltz kid got up to bat was terrifying. Great win for the hoos, incredibly resilient team. Bring on Oklahoma!
