Wideout Tim Smith to miss the remainder of the season

Sophomore wide receiver Tim Smith will sit out the remainder of the season with an ankle injury that will require surgery, the team announced Monday. Smith is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday to repair the ankle.

Smith, who had been the No. 3 wide receiver on the team's depth chart, was expected to help the Cavaliers offense stretch the field with his incendiary straight-line speed this season. He tallied three catches for 28 yards in two games before sitting out Saturday's contest against Virginia Military Institute.
