Comment Box: Mad Matt & Tom Thumb? Nah.
Nowhere else to go for this question: Anyone watch Jimmy Kimmel last night and see the bit about Matt Damon storming off the show? I assume that was a joke, but didn't see the original show and it wasn't explained last night. Was it a joke, or was Damon actually p.o.'d at Jimmy for something? (Obviously, I don't watch the show every night.) Anyone? Anyone? -- BA comments on Morning Mix: Madonna Headed to Space?
BA, alas I'm also not a regular Kimmel watcher (though I probably should be). I did, however, find this video of the incident and looks to me like Damon was cooperating with a variation on a long-running gag in which Kimmel frequently ends the show saying "apologies to Matt Damon." If Damon had really been mad we all know he woulda clocked Kimmel with an oar, stolen his identity, bought a palazzo in Venice with his blood money and endured a few uncomfortable scenes with Gwyneth Paltrow giving him the frowning of a lifetime.
Boy, I had always heard that Tom Cruise was small... but that picture finally gave me the perspective. What is he, 4'8"? -- Ed comments on TomKat Make the Scene at Redskins Game
While reports of Cruise's height have varied from mere inches up to 5'11", it is generally agreed that he is probably 5'7". Although not confirmed, there are numerous reports of him wearing heels and shoe lifts to lift him above his female co-stars in movies like "Vanilla Sky" and "Mission: Impossible."
By way of comparison, Katie Holmes is 5'9", Chris Klein is 6'1", Sylvester Stallone is 5'10" and Nicole Kidman is 5'10-1/2" (Source: IMDB.com)
After her marriage to Cruise ended, one of Nicole Kidman's more interesting statements was: "Now I can wear heels."
I need to know who was in the bottom three in celebrity duets and who got kicked off the show all I know is that Carly Patterson was in the bottom three. Who else was in the bottom three? -- Whitley on Perfect Pitch: Celebrity Duets
Whitley, as mentioned last week, I haven't been keeping up with this show, but the official Web site has recaps of all episodes. Looks like last week's bottom three were Carly Patterson, Cheech Marin and Hal Sparks. Patterson, the former Olympic gymnast, was cut. (I may have to go back and watch, though, to see Sparks' rendition of Styx's "Mr. Roboto."
Where did you study music Liz? You're dead wrong about Magni... no further comment. -- Unwelcome Guest comments on 'Rock Star': You Be the Judge
Well, the joke's on you, Unwelcome Guest: I didn't study music at all! Seriously, though, you might want to join the "Magniacs" over at the Magni Asgeirsson Fan Forum to discuss this Icelandic wonder and revel in fan art like this lovely image, which blinks every 15 seconds.
Speaking of "Rock Star," thanks for the suggestions for a new name for the band. Here are some of my favorites from your submissions:
Smacked Dupa and the variation Supa Dupa (my grandmother would be so proud)
Guns N Losers
As Seen on TV
Stellar Explosion Which Produces an Extremely Bright Object Made of Plasma (SEWPAEBOMOP)
Der Umlaut (it has a certain something)
As of this writing the band's official Web site (which has been updated with a promo shot including Lukas) is still calling the band "Supernova."
