Hollyweird: Jay-Z's Bud, Borat vs. Gypsies and Liza & David

Okay, after scanning the entertainment wires, I'm left with no choice but to add yet another sheet to the Hollyweird file. What is this Hollyweird file of which I speak, you ask? Why, obviously, it's where these stories belong: Bring this man two Buds. (Reuters) Can I Get a Bud, Bud? Something about Jay-Z pimping Budweiser just smacks of sell out. Trust me, I'm a big Jigga fan and have cheered his incredible stewardship of Def Jam Records and Rocawear, not to mention his kick-[butt] on-again, off-again music career and his long-term relationship with Beyonce. Still, I was surprised to learn that he'll be the new public face of Budweiser Select (whose current campaign features urban singles on a subway car and urges us to "expect everything"). Jay-Z has already appeared in one commercial alongside NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Indy Racing League driver Danica Patrick. (Full Story) Age...

'Lost': Episode 3 Dueling Analyses

washingtonpost.com movies editor Jen Chaney and I discuss last night's "Lost" and find we don't agree on, well, a lot. If you haven't watched, beware of SPOILERS. Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) looks on as Locke (Terry O'Quinn) prepares to enter the sweat lodge. (Photo courtesy ABC) Liz: So last week you were missing Hurley. Was tonight's re-introduction his best "Dude" ever? Jen: That was a pretty awesome "Dude." I wasn't sure who I was happier to see: Hurley or Boone. If I may wallow in shallowness for a brief moment, is it possible for Ian Somerhalder to be any hotter? Speaking of Boone, let's discuss that dream sequence... Liz: Ya, it was interesting to see John go all "Man Called Horse" and do the vision quest thing, but the overlong airport sequence struck me as so much filler. In fact, the whole episode -- minus a couple tidbits -- was filler...

List: The Most-Stylish Movies

It's Tuesday so it must be time for another Friday list! Or maybe I'm willing to do just about anything to avoid writing about Madonna's continuing adoption saga ("Malawi Tops Kazakhstan as Most-Talked-About Country No One Can Pinpoint on a Map") or Jennifer Aniston's Oprah gabfest ("No New Boobs and Vince Stays in Relationship"). Though I would probably pay good money to write -- at length -- if the two stories somehow intersected ("Aniston Breaks Up with Malawi, Contemplates Boob Job.") Fashion icon Cary Grant. (Viking Press/MGM) Alas, no such luck. So let's do the next best thing: turn our attention to GQ's new list of the most stylish movies of all time, movies that had a lasting impact on the way we dress. Not surprisingly, a film starring possibly the most debonair man ever to walk the Earth tops the list: Cary Grant and "North By Northwest." Eighteen movies...

Comment Box: Madonna, Vaughniston, "Lost"

According to an article in the Telegraph, Malawian law may currently be different than what is cited by the U.S. State Department (and your article). The Telegraph article states, "In 1993, however, Malawi signed the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. This says under article 21 that 'inter-country adoption may be considered.'" Just thought you might want to know the law [may] not have been changed for Madonna after all. -- via e-mail Thanks for pointing out this distinction. Still, Malawi-based human rights groups are questioning the correctness of this adoption. Child rights group Eye of the Child maintains that Malawi circumvented the law in order to allow this adoption to proceed. For now, Madonna's prospective new son -- David Banda -- is still in Malawi under the care of the star's entourage while his passport is processed. In case you missed it in this Morning's Mix, David's...
