Matthew Fox, Still 'Lost'

Matthew Fox as 'Lost's' Jack. (Photo courtesy ABC) After Matthew Fox made the trip to New York to host last weekend's "Saturday Night Live," speculation among Those Who Watch "Lost" (TWWL) has been rampant that the actor's character must've been cut from the ABC drama, currently on hiatus until February, but busy filming in Hawaii. Turns out Jack is safe -- for now -- as Fox told washingtonpost.com movies editor and fellow "Lost" watcher Jen Chaney in an audio interview that will be posted on washingtonpost.com early next week: "That's not true," Fox said when asked whether he plans to leave "Lost" to focus on a movie career full time. "I completely understand that these opportunities I'm doing outside of 'Lost' are because of 'Lost.' And I have absolutely no intention of doing that [leaving the show] whatsoever." The star of the upcoming "We Are Marshall" -- who bundled...

Friday List: A Star-Studded Wish List

If he only had a brain. (Photo illustration by Mr. Liz for washingtonpost.com) Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore because Kevin Federline is making news for trying to become a better person. Yep, you heard that right, K-Fed -- borrowing a page from "The Wizard of Oz's" Scarecrow -- is trying to get his own brain. If K-Fed's fondest wish is for a little gray matter to fill his empty head, what quality or essential item do stars like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Jennifer Aniston need to head into 2007 stronger than ever? This Friday we'll play the role of the Great and Powerful Oz by identifying the one thing celebrities need to be complete this holiday season. To get the list started, below are a few examples compiled with Celebritology field agent Frank Thomason: Britney Spears: Maturity (though a publicist would be a close second)....

News Flash: Vaughinston is Gone-iston

Vaughn and Aniston. (Getty Images) It seems like just 62 days ago I was writing about the anticlimactic demise of the relationship between Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. Who cares?, I asked. And you resoundingly responded: Not us. We'd washed our hands of the nap-inducing Vaughniston. But we were wrong. Soon after break-up rumors surfaced in October, Aniston appeared on Oprah's couch to say everything was okay (even though she's never specifically admitted to dating Vaughn) and Vaughn even threatened to sue the tabloids for reporting a split and that he'd been spotted kissing someone else. Still, a 60-day separation fueled speculation until Aniston joined Vaughn in London in late October. Yesterday, though, word came from publicists for both stars confirming that the couple is officially over: "After Jennifer's trip to London several weeks ago, Jennifer and Vince mutually agreed to end their relationship but continue to be good...

In Praise of Kate

Winslet arrives at the premiere of her new movie, 'The Holiday,' in London. (Getty Images) Let's take a time-out from the escalating game of starlet-inspired schadenfreude to praise Kate Winslet. That's right -- I've nothing catty or even mildly salacious to say about this woman and neither, it turns out, does anyone else. This is because (unlike some others who shall remain nameless), Winslet makes news for her professional achievements, not off-set shenanigans. A quick spin around the Web reveals the usual Kate-sized "gossip": Winslet Embarrassed by Swayze Crush, Winslet Was Girl Who Never Got the Boys, Winslet Stunned by Trailer. It's almost enough to restore one's faith in celebs. More importantly, Winslet is famously proud of her curves -- a sharp contrast to the skeletal dress racks we're so used to seeing stalk the red carpet. And though Winslet starred in one of the biggest movies ever ("Titanic"),...

Jessica Simpson, Breaking It on Down

Simpson at Sunday night's Kennedy Center Honors. (Getty Images) If you haven't heard yet, Jessica Simpson had some kind of mildly embarassing breakdown on Sunday night while singing a song in tribute to Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center Honors. From today's Reliable Source: "The 26-year-old pop starlet kept one arm clutched to her midsection while singing '9 to 5.' At the end, she blurted, 'Dolly, you make me so nervous, I can't even sing the words right,' then scuttled awkwardly off the stage. Witnesses told us she was a wreck before she went on, weeping while the video tribute to Parton played and pacing anxiously during performances by Carrie Underwood, Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss and Shania Twain." Elsewhere, comparisons are being drawn to sister Ashlee's "Saturday Night Live" lip-synching fiasco back in 2004. Let me be the first to say: give the girl a break. She was obviously...

Celebritology Holiday Guide: Memorabilia Mania

Let's face it: Fruit baskets and gift cards are just so overdone. Show your friends and family you really care this holiday season by giving a gift that speaks to their obsessions. Maybe you know someone with a "collection" or have an uncle who sets his watch to Graceland time or even know a certain Celebritologist who would so kill to own a shirt Tom Cruise wore in "Vanilla Sky"* -- surprise them with something they'll always um... cherish. A world of items once owned -- or touched, or chewed -- by celebrities is yours for the buying. Unfortunately, an egg-salad sandwich half-eaten by Britney Spears was snapped up by Internet casino GoldenPalace.com earlier this year. But, fear not, there is plenty left to round out your holiday gifting. Below, a quick survey of some of the more interesting one-of-a-kinds making holiday wish lists this year. Jessica Simpson's alleged gum....
