Celebritology 101: Stalkerazzi Avoidance Tactics

By Liz Kelly

Is it live or is it latex? Oh, what's the difference. (Reuters)

Victoria Beckham may be plastic, but plans to snap pics of the former Spice Girl recently blew up in the faces of a horde of stalkerazzi who were chagrined to find they'd been tailing an inflatable stand-in for the former Spice Girl.

Not since a pregnant Gwen Stefani hid in the backseat of her brother's car to reach the relative safety of a Target mega-store, has a group of paparazzi been so handily outwitted. While cameras were busy snapping Mrs. Beckham's latex doppelganger, the real Posh was far away, enjoying a private shopping spree at an L.A. adult novelty store.

Whether this brilliant bit of surreal bait-and-switch was Posh's brainstorm has not yet been confirmed, but I'm willing to give the former Spice Girl credit for outsmarting the camera-toting mob. After all, this is the woman responsible for parlaying her time in the spotlight as a member of a cheesy girl group into full-blown superstardom -- a move that has her and husband David Beckham sharing tabloid space with TomKat and Brangelina.

Neither the blow-up doll nor Posh had any comment about the stunt before being deflated and stored for the next photo op.

There's gotta be a market for inflatable Posh, especially if she is, shall we say, "lifelike".

And maybe a Scary for Eddie Murphy...

What's an "adult novelty store"? A porn shop?

not that i've ever been there but an "adult novelty store" is a place where one can purchase porn, sex stuff, etc...even blow up dolls a la posh spice beckham

I think it's just hilarious that the Google-generated ad at the bottom of the page (this time, at least) is "local sex offender maps."

I feel like holding her left hand that way is meant to show off the ring? I guess the cameraman for these pics, though, was unable to achieve appropriate angle to fully capture the bling.

The paparazzi/stalkerazzi have never been known for their intelligence and this episode does nothing to change that.

I'll take yall's word for what a "adult novelty store" is.

Snarky nicknames ... hmmm. How about:

Vivid (nah, too real)
Spiced Ham

I give up. Your turn.

Is that the actual Posh Spice in that picture or one of those wax figures?

Vecks (British for wax)
Spice baller (a tie in of their careers)

Pox <---- Merging Posh and Becks (Pocks), but a more fitting spelling.

Good for Posh! She does have a sense of humour. This is much funnier than throwing baked beans, or something.
