Cast Your Lizzies Votes

By Liz Kelly

Last year, Celebritology readers made their mark on the annual awards season when we launched the inaugural Celebritology Honors (aka The Lizzies). This year, the Lizzies are back -- bigger, better and blingier than ever before.

Cast your votes in this year's five categories, culled from a list of your nominations: Biggest Celebrity Train Wreck, Best Celebrity-Obsessed Web Site, Best Mug Shot, Most-Shocking Split and Most-Admired Celebrity.

Voting will be open through Tuesday, July 3 and winners will be announced Monday, July 9.

My Most-Admired Celebrity is Sean Connery. A class act who knows how to live a real life.

Sean Connery???You have got to be kidding. He's an admitted wife beater!

Opps. My bad. Forgot about that. Please retract that vote Liz. (call it a hanging-chad).

Thanks for the reminder cb.

Go Fug Yourself is one of the best sites on the web, period. not just celeb-related. I laugh out loud with almost every entry on there. It is just genius.

When Weingarten sees the Mad Coding Skillz on display in your poll, he's gonna have a kitten.

although it was years ago, i think all voting for celebrity mugshots needs to be held to the standard that is the nick nolte mug shot. on days when i am feeling down, sometimes a quick google for that pic is all i need

Agreed that the Fug Girlz rock, but their site is a fashion site, not a Celebrity site. Sure, a lot of their entries are about celebrities committing hugely fugly fashion mistakes (I didn't know the plural of "faux pas"), but just as many are minor actors/singers/nobodies who just happened to be wearing (or sometimes barely wearing) a really hideous outfit.

Accordingly, as much as I love that site, I can't argue that it's the best "Celebrity OBSESSED (emphasis added)" website.

TMZ, on the other hand, drinks from the little-league-sized Coleman cooler of Kool-Aid.

Overall, I think this category was kinda' the weakest, both in concept and in contenders.

I would like to adopt Gene's kitten. I would name it Lizzie.

Most-Admired Celebrity - Ellen DeGeneres. She doesn't take herself too seriously, and she just always looks happy to be herself. I know that sounds kind of sappy, but I think there are very few celebs like that.

Posted by: usually not sappy | June 20, 2007 1:52 PM | Report abuse

sigh... i think we had some better suggestions... website? who cares... shocking split? what is this - US Weekly? this one feels like the editors got hold of it....

I was looking forward to 'Lead Singer who could do a better job on Iraq Policy that George'... I figured the battle between Kip Winger and David Lee Roth would be fierce...

To anyone tempted to vote for Rosie as Most Admired: in spite of what Liz and everyone says about the anonymity of posters here, I know who you are, know where you live, and can make your life a living hell.

Posted by: Margo | June 20, 2007 2:23 PM | Report abuse

My wife saw you in front of our house, Margo. The binoculars are a dead giveaway. :-)

Posted by: byoolin | June 20, 2007 2:37 PM | Report abuse

oh wow, so there are more of me out there!??!! I thought i was the only one who loved the Rosie stint!! YES!

Also, you should add most informative gossip website and Perez Hilton would def take the cake there. Love that guy! the white marker commentary is just splendid!

Most-Admired Celebrity - Any and all Celebrities that stay out of the Tabliods and who don't try and tell me polictially or morally what to think! But if I had to choose just one then I will say... Audrey Hepburn! I know she is dead but I still think she was a class act that the want-to-be celebs should try and model themselves after.

Posted by: MLF | June 20, 2007 3:51 PM | Report abuse

But what about OhNoTheyDidn't? That's where I get all my celeb news because it pulls from all the others. Makes my celeb-news-aholic self happy.

MLF, I agree that Audrey Hepburn is one all celebrities should model themselves after.

I find your comment about celebrities trying to tell you what to think intersting. Does supporting a cause they believe in fall into that category? If so, you should know that Audrey worked with UNICEF for more than 30 years, and was appointed "special ambassador" to the organization shortly after her last film role. She toured several Latin American countries as part of this role, speaking with heads of state and other leaders.

Mug Shot - Ah yes, Nick Nolte was great - but who can forget Glen Campbell's?

Posted by: John D in Houston | June 20, 2007 4:36 PM | Report abuse

Cher and Cyndi Lauper are the two celebs (living) that I personally admire the most - so I would be remiss if I didn't mention them. However, they haven't been in the news too much lately, so I'll pick someone who would fit better as a pick for the year...

In that case, I agree with the person who said Ellen DeGeneres. She had a very rough time of it years ago when she helped pave the way for others with her sitcom. But now she finally has the success she deserves - and she seems so grateful for it. She has an appreciation, wisdom and positive nature about her - and such a giving heart. She also makes us laugh - definitely to be admired. I think she's a great role model for everyone and absolutely Most to be Admired.

ESL, True Audrey was a spokesperson and I did remember something about her doing that but not trying to sound like a hypocrite... she just had an earnestness about her that you can believe she believed in what she was doing. There are very few celebs that show the kind of heart she had. Some of the celebs are doing things like Crew and the toilet paper comment to bring outrages attention to what they are champion at the moment. Will the now celebs be champion their cause 1, 5, 10 years down the road, I doubt it!

Posted by: MLF | June 20, 2007 5:10 PM | Report abuse

MLF...I don't think we really have the place to decide who is true to their cause and who is not.

If any celeb is out there endorsing or talking about issues they believe to be important...well more power to them. If a celeb is raising awareness about hunger, genocide, global warming, etc. that is a positive thing to me. I don't care if they're jumping on the band wagon or if they won't still be talking about it in 10 years.

And who's to say they won't? We don't have crystal balls... Well, I don't anyway.

Posted by: 2 more cents | June 20, 2007 5:16 PM | Report abuse

I might admire a celebs commitment to a cause, but shouldn't a lizzie go to a celeb who's actually good at his/her chosen profession? Ellen, for example, sure seems nice. But, you know, meh.

Posted by: serious question | June 20, 2007 5:37 PM | Report abuse

Poor Bai Ling... she throws herself into everything she does, and she won't let a little thing (like clothes) get in her way. From her moving performance on Celebrity Poker, to her adroit performance of a robot on "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", her ersatz public appearances, and making us all forget that she can actually act ("Red Corner", "The King and I").

I'd really like to see Bai Ling receive an honorary Lizzie for Most Underexposed Celebrity.

I want to write in Nick Nolte for best mugshot. I mean, that is the classic. James Brown's mugshot was also excellent, although I guess we can leave that one alone out of respect for the dead...

Most admired celebrity-I love Kate Winslet-she's beautiful, classy, and keeps her life out of the news.

Or Clive Owen, just because he's hot.

Posted by: Mugshots | June 21, 2007 9:18 AM | Report abuse

Most admired celeb is Judi Dench. She's a brilliant actress, a patron of more than 150 charities in the UK, hard-working, a mother and grandmother, funny as all get out, and she seems to be happy and comfortable with herself.
