Lessons from Lilo: A Little Privacy?

We've talked privacy here before and the topic will doubtless emerge again as the unpredictable mixture of celebrities and a 24/7 news cycle continue to collide in new ways.

This week, we look at the issue as relates to one Lindsay Lohan -- sometime child star, party girl and recovering addict -- who has been taking tentative steps back into the world. As expected, the paparazzi have been there to capture her recent outings.

Last week, Lilo -- currently cleaning up at Sundance, Utah's swank Cirque Lodge ("Recently named by Town and Country magazine as one of the top substance abuse treatment facilities." Ahem.) -- made a quick trip to a local tanning salon for a little color. Then, over the weekend, she was snapped enjoying a whitewater rafting trip with fellow rehabbers. Then, just yesterday, pix of the starlet enjoying a little therapeutic dog walking hit the Web.

What, wondered one anonymous commenter yesterday, about privacy?

"I'm no fan of Linds[a]y Lohan's, but this is a new low. Taking pictures of her while she's in rehab?! C'mon! And what about the other people who are trying to focus on getting their heads straight? What about their privacy? This is detrimental to their recovery and hers, seriously. Sorry, but I include [C]elebritology in this, 'cause it's posted here. There has to be a line drawn somewhere."

Not everyone, though, shared that opinion. Said another poster in the same thread:

"The pictures were not taken inside the rehab facility, they were taken in a public place, no one should expect any sense privacy while in a public place, even if they are on a rehab field trip. That said, why would the facility sanction this event knowing that their celebrity client would probably have the papz on her tail as soon as they left the facility?"

Where do you come down on pix of celebs in recovery? Are they fair game if they knowingly put themselves in range of a telephoto lens? Vote in today's poll, and then share your thinking below.
