"Part of what I love about men is that it's hard for them to be monogamous. Women, I think, need to spend more time understanding men than changing men. And vice versa." -- Kate Hudson, who should perhaps date Terrence Howard

Thanks to everyone for putting up with an abbreviated week of posts. Celebritology will be back to full potency starting Monday.

Liz, please don't apologize for being on vacation! You didn't have to post anything this week, so we are happy you did what you did!

hey Liz, to be fair, you shoud follow up on your stories. This was just on CNN.com
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/09/angelina-jolie-denies-endorsing-edwards/

August 9, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) - Angelina Jolie, the Oscar-winning actress known for her humanitarian work, is disputing reports that she's picked a presidential candidate for 2008.

In a written statement Wednesday, Jolie said she has made no decision despite reports that she's supporting Democratic contender John Edwards.

"There are many false stories that circulate about me, but the one I feel I need to address, because it is about such an important topic, is that I have not decided to endorse John Edwards, or any other presidential candidate," Jolie said.

"Like many Americans, I am learning more about the candidates records and positions but at this time I have not yet made an endorsement," she said.

Jolie won her best supporting actress Oscar for "Girl, Interrupted." She recently starred in "A Mighty Heart."

That Terrence Howard interview is disturbing. Baby wipes? Premarital sex? Uncles as pimps? WTF?

Posted by: DJ | August 10, 2007 9:45 AM | Report abuse

I don't care who Angeline or any other star is endorsing. They live so far outside the realm of the average person and they have no idea what it is like to deal with real issues.

Oh well, I am just cranky today. Keep the Utah miners in your thoughts, it is not looking good for them.

To 9:34 AM,

1)Liz is on vacation, and is kind of enough to do the Morning Mix so give her a break.
2)No one cares who Angeline Jolie endorses, therefore it is not celebrity news. If Angie adopts another kid or invites Jennifer Anniston over so Brad can have a play date, that's celebrity news.

Terrence Howard might actually have a point about the baby wipes. I know a lot of Muslims do it or use a spray bottle of water. Seems a little more sanitary. I mean, they're good for babies...

Somehow, while I can imagine Ed Harris getting p.o.'d about getting snagged in security (justifiably or no), I can never imagine him having a "hissy fit". Just doesn't compute. Anyway, the article said that after he missed his flight, he realized he was being an ass and apologized. That's more than a lot of celebs can do.

Everybody knows people, even Liz, deserve vacations. And even if they dont know, I'm almost sure Liz doesn't give a f@ck what they think. She's probably skinny-dipping as we speak... :-)

wait, didn't terrence howard supposedly recently reconcile with his wife?

Posted by: Anonymous | August 10, 2007 10:25 AM | Report abuse

g'mornin' all...well, well, well...i was doing okay with just about everything i'd read in the morning mix until i got to the terrence howard interview. i never cease to be amazed at what people will divulge while being interviewed. do they not realize that the most unnecessary intimate details are always going to be highlighted in an interview like that. no one remembers that terrence howard is a good actor, they just remember that he's got a thing about women using baby wipes.
ai-yi-yi...
and ed harris...i can totally see him throwing a fit, hissy or otherwise. he's a pretty tightly wound dude. glad to know that he had the courtesy to acknowledge and apologize for his behavior.

Posted by: methinks | August 10, 2007 10:27 AM | Report abuse

oops, missed the second paragraph of the article... nevermind. weird dude though.

the Angelina thing was because Liz posted a story a few days ago about Angelina and Brad breaking up over a fight over who each endorsed for pres. If you are going to post BS rumors, you need to come back and post follow ups.

and Amen on Liz's taking a vacation. Come on! She has been working all week while on vacation--let's give the woman a break!

I'm beginning to believe that Britney doesn't really want custody of her 2 children. That she is in fact acting so recklessly in order to avoid caring for them, save monetary assitance to Kfed.

its the only explanation right?

or maybe its that she never had a reckless childhood due to her constant manipulation by big corporations and music executives, and now that she has no career she is free to be a terrible teenager.

No one cares, except you that they are going to break up. THere is no law saying she can't post whatever she wants.

Lindsay's trash on eBay?

Hmmm, that covers a lot of ground... it could be her film career, or her last several relationships, or her alleged music career, numerous friendships, her self-respect, several Mercedes convertibles, her liver, a couple court rulings, a bunch of personal assistants, her family, millions of brain cells... the list goes on and on.

Damn, Lilo has generated a lot of trash in her young and stoopid life.

Are those track marks all over Amy Winehouse's husband's arm???

Posted by: Californian | August 10, 2007 12:15 PM | Report abuse

to anon @ 10:19am:
technically speaking, is swimming pantsless actually the same as skinny-dipping, or does the latter require complete clotheslessness?

Posted by: VoR | August 10, 2007 12:25 PM | Report abuse

Californian, I don't know what track marks look like, given my sheltered life, but was wondering if he could be a cutter like she's supposed to be?

Regardless, he doesn't look like a positive influence for anyone's rehab.

Aw. No mention of the David Beckham citing at Pentagon City mall yesterday...

Posted by: P City | August 10, 2007 12:54 PM | Report abuse

I believe, though not from personal experience, track marks are usually on the inside of the arm, best vain possibilites. Those look like cut marks.

Also my Merriam-Webster Concise Office Dictionary defines skinny dipping as swimming in the nude. Hope that helps VoR.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 10, 2007 1:26 PM | Report abuse

Men don't cut themselves. He probably got those in a Harley accident or from falling off the roof when he was repairing the shingles. Well, anyway, if he did cut himself, he probably used a hand saw.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 10, 2007 1:41 PM | Report abuse

completely not true--men and boys do, but the prevalence of cutting is much higher among girls. men and boys tend to strike out when they are depressed, young women and girls often hurt themselves or turn inward. I know this is a fun forum but I had to say this because misinformation like this can do damage. If you think your teenaged son is doing this sort of thing, take notice, OK?

Posted by: cutting is not gender specific | August 10, 2007 2:47 PM | Report abuse

No shyt? Never realized.

As for Terrence Howard's penchant for baby wipes, he was raised a Muslim & as someone else said some Muslims use baby wipes.

Jewish, Muslim, Jehovah Witness....man....if his kids manage to turn out OK it'll be a miracle.

According to Wiki:
Howard, who lives outside Lafayette Hill in Philadelphia, was married to Lori McCommas, a white Jewish woman, for 14 years. The couple has three children: two daughters (Aubrey and Heavenly) and a son (Hunter). Howard and his wife divorced in 2003 and remarried again in 2005, but have since separated. Press reports have since noted that Howard is "trying to reunite" with his wife, and that he has stated that he is "chasing after" her. Howard was raised in the Muslim religion and is interested in the Jehovah's Witness faith, in which his wife is raising their children.

the only thing sadder than us reading about celebrities' endorsement of candidates is the number of people that will base their votes on a celebrity endorsement.
