2007: The Year of the Celeb DUI?
Mickey Rourke, arrested yesterday in Florida for allegedly driving a scooter under the influence, is the latest Hollywoodie to mix drinking and driving in the last 10 months. Below, a dis-honor roll of 2007 celebrity DUI arrests.
Oct. 31 -- Lane Garrison
The "Prison Break" star is sentenced to 40 months in prison for a December 2006 DUI that killed a 17-year-old high school student.
Oct. 30 -- Rebecca DeMornay
A cooperative DeMornay, who once tempted Tom Cruise in "Risky Business," is arrested with a .09 blood alcohol level while driving in Beverly Hills. (Perhaps she was trying to blot out this memory.)
Oct. 25 -- Daniel Dae Kim
The actor becomes the fourth "Lost" cast member afflicted by the "Lost" DUI curse when he's arrested in Honolulu. (Other Lostie DUIs: Michelle Rodriguez (since sentenced to 180 days in jail), Cynthia Watros and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje)
Oct. 24 -- Gary Collins
The TV host is arrested with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit after slamming into another car and attempting to leave the accident scene.
Sept. 25 -- Kiefer Sutherland
Do "Lost Boys" figure into the "Lost" curse? Sutherland is busted in Hollywood after cops spot him making an illegal U-Turn. He's later sentenced to 48 days in jail. Blaming fans for his long sentence, Sutherland stops signing autographs.
Sept. 25 -- Mike Tyson
The one-time boxer and all-the-time spectacle pleads guilty to cocaine possession and driving under the influence last December in Arizona.
Aug. 24 -- Austin Nichols
The star of HBO's canceled "John From Cincinnati" is stopped driving the wrong way down a one-way street.
Aug. 1 -- Matthew Roloff
The "Little People, Big World" dad plead innocent to charges of driving erratically and failing a field sobriety test.
July 24 -- Lindsay Lohan
The troubled starlet is arrested the second time in three months (see below) for driving under the influence and cocaine possession. Lohan is sentenced to one day in jail for both offenses, to be served by Jan. 18, 2008.
June -- Paris Hilton
The celebutante serves a controversial 22 total days in jail for violating her probation stemming from a Sept. 2006 DUI conviction.
May 5 -- Ty Pennington
The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" host said he made a mistake and termed his arrest a "wake-up call."
May 3 -- Busta Rhymes
The rapper is arrested in New York after cops stop his car for "excessively tinted windows."
April 26 -- Eve
Puzzlingly, the rapper's bail is posted by Sean Penn after a night in the slammer for crashing a Maserati on Hollywood Boulevard.
March 27 -- Taboo
One of the marginally famous (ie not Fergie or Wil.i.am) Black Eyed Peas is arrested on DUI charges and marijuana possession after crashing his car in Hollywood.
March 27 -- Jessica Smith
A former star of MTV's "Laguna Beach," Smith is arrested after causing an "injury crash" on California's Santa Ana Freeway.
March 21 -- Vivica A. Fox
The actress, lately seen on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," was arrested after failing a field sobriety test.
March 13 -- Eric Carmen
Okay, so his celebrity status is marginal, but this Former Raspberries singer was charged with drunken driving after hitting a mailbox and a sign with his Lexus sport ute in Ohio.
Feb. 19 -- Ray Liotta
The one-time "Goodfella" was arrested after crashing his car into two parked vehicles.
Why so many celeb DUIs in the past year? Is there perhaps something (Kristal?) in the Hollywood water? Share your thoughts below...
