Friday List: TV Crush Groove 2007 -- Your Nominees?

Naveen Andrews: Hot or not? (AP) It's no secret that at least three of the reasons I'm hooked on "Lost" are named Matthew Fox (Jack), Josh Holloway (Sawyer) and Naveen Andrews (Sayid). There, I said it. I'm as susceptible to three-day stubble and a well-delivered line as the next girl. And any guys out there claiming to watch "Gilmore Girls" for the well-done portrayal of family drama can kiss my tuchus. With that in mind, today we shoulder a momentous task: compiling a list of the top TV crushes of 2007. Ideally, the final list -- based on your submissions -- will be whittled down to five characters from each side of the gender divide and released here on Monday. Don't underestimate the importance of the word "character" here. Yes, Heidi Klum is hot, but we're taking our attraction one step further into fandom to admit crushes on the...

K-Fed: Dad of the Year in Five Easy Steps

Or: How to Succeed at Parenting Without Really Trying Listen up, Alec Baldwin. You may be an Oscar and Emmy-nominated successful working actor with a hit NBC show, but you ain't no K-Fed. As dutifully reported in yesterday's Morning Mix, one Kevin Federline was cited (along with Anna Nicole Smith baby daddy Larry Birkhead) as Dad of the Year in Details magazine's list of 2007 Power Players. How did a 29-year-old with a resume shorter than Hervé Villechaize top Ryan Seacrest and Harry Potter as an "influential" simply due to his parenting skills? First, listen to K-Fed's thoughts on parenting: Then, in five easy steps, we break down the K-Fed Path to Parental Domination: 1. K-Fed's Johnny Appleseed-esque parenting strategy was hatched before his Spears spawn, Sean Preston and Jayden James, were even a glimmer in his "Chaotic" eye. By fathering four children (two with ex Shar Jackson) K-Fed shrewdly...

'Lost' Book Club: 'A Wrinkle in Time'

We decided to let you, the readers, vote for our next "Lost" Book Club selection. And despite a strong showing by "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret," the overwhelming winner was... "A Wrinkle in Time," which makes Madeleine L'Engle's beloved fantasy our official choice for December. Originally published in 1962, this tale was a tad controversial in its day. Although many of its characters had comforting names (e.g. Mrs. Whatsit), critics viewed all those references to crystal balls and witches as heretical and accused the author of challenging Christian beliefs. Still, despite the mostly forgotten static it generated, "A Wrinkle in Time" remains one of the all-time best-loved works of young adult science fiction. The writing is fluid without being flowery, the characters are likable and it's a quick read (we love that, especially during the busy holiday season). Why It Matters to 'Lost': Of all the books...

Occupational Hazard: Celeb Ennui

This may come as a surprise to the occasional reader who likes to rail against me and the blog for, well, existing, but even Celebritologists aren't capable of unwavering interest in the lives of the rich and infamous. Some days it happens like this: I wake up to a morning of smelly Tara Reids, bottle blond divorces and the usual swarm of Britney Spears headlines and I. Just. Freeze Up. This morning, for instance. Here I sit with a vast array of silly celeb news for inspiration and I'm, well, uninspired. No "Dancing with the Stars" finale or leaked Britney video shoot anticipation for this Celebritologiest. Instead, I find myself gravitating to this fascinating story about the meaning (or lack of meaning) in our dreams and, yes, trying to wrap my head around the sudden, unexpected death of Redskin Sean Taylor. Forgive me for having an off day, but there...

Comment Box: Bindi Irwin's Croc Men and Other 'Lost' Causes

(Getty Images) What exactly are Crocmen? -- surlychick asks, with no noticeable trace of surliness, in Thanksgiving: Celebs with a Side of Cheese Despite Byoolin's assertion that Crocmen are "mythical creatures, with the head of a man and the body of a crocodile," it turns out they're an ill-paid quintet of yellow-shirted back-up singers who do nothing to distract one from the fact that Bindi Irwin is lip-synching. Which does nothing to distract one from the fact that Bindi, a nine-year-old Australian child who lost her father only 14 months ago, spends some of her November mornings forced to sing and dance on a parade float. Which does nothing to distract from the fact that Good Charlotte, who also "performed" from a float (the Hess gas station float), has officially jumped the shark. Which, obviously, does nothing to distract us from the fact that another parade performer, Dolly Parton,...
