'Lost' Dueling Analyses: Confirmed Dead

Join us as post.com Movies editrix Jen Chaney and I geek out about the latest episode of "Lost." Have you seen this man? Michael Emerson as the suddenly sought after Ben Linus. (Screengrab courtesy LostEasterEggs) Liz: No matter how you look at it, last night's show was a doozy. We got a few answers -- which we'll talk about in a sec -- but also a slew of new questions. Somehow, though, I'm not annoyed by the additional mysteries. From a storytelling standpoint, last night's show accomplished two things. First, the writers have finally figured out how to introduce new characters without falling into the Nikki/Paolo trap. Dan, Frank, Miles and Charlotte make sense for this show in a way that Nikki and Paolo never did. They arrived on the island fully formed with secrets of their own. Well done. The other accomplishment is turning out an episode every bit...

Report: Spears Released from Hospital

Britney Spears was released from the UCLA Medical Center late this afternoon. People.com is reporting that while Brit was able to slip out of the hospital without fanfare, the paparazzi quickly caught up with her -- creating a media frenzy in her wake as she drove through Beverly Hills. Spears had been in the hospital since Jan. 31. The latest issue of Rolling Stone, due in stores Friday, features a bombshell-packed cover story about Spears -- including details about alleged breast implants (and removal), Brit's relationship with Justin Timberlake and her self-image....

Creative Captioning: Fashion Week Fur Pax?

Since last year's final episode of "The Sopranos," its former stars have been turning up in the darndest places. Lately, for instance, Paulie Walnuts (aka actor Tony Sirico) has been starring in the latest Denny's commercial. Don't look now, but here's Dr. Melfi (Lorraine Bracco) researching her role in the upcoming "Goodfellas 2: I Survived the '80s." No, wait, I totally made that up. Turns out Bracco is merely making the scene at New York Fashion Week. But what's that she's wearing? And why do I suddenly wish she'd gone into that corner store (watch from minute 5:30 - 6:30) with Robert De Niro? Ah well, nevermind. Today's mission is to come up with the most imaginative caption to accompany the photo below -- something befitting a star of Bracco's stature and sturdy enough to stand out amidst all that fur. Share your creative caption below. The best entry will...

Ledger Died of Accidental Overdose

(AP) The AP is reporting that Heath Ledger's death has been ruled an accidental overdose. TMZ.com has obtained a copy of the just-released medical examiner's report. The report states that Ledger death was "accidental," resulting from the "abuse of prescription medications," including oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. Ledger's family immediately released a statement reading, in part, "Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts," and "Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage." Heidi's Hills, Alive with the Sound of Music

Starlets today, so multi-talented. So savvy. So... musical. Heidi Montag now has become the latest in a growing lineup of reality show dodos to jump the shark into a "singing" career. Or, to be more precise, the busty blond star of MTV's "The Hills" has released a video showcasing her talents -- which so far as I can tell are surgically enhanced and contained in two triangles of fabric about 10 inches south of her chin. Have a look: We expected no less more of her after getting this sneak peek last year. Ah. The production qualities rival that of 14-year-old boy's surreptitious YouTube video of his sister at the beach. The song is reminiscent of early Paris Hilton, her high-pitched tweet similar to that of the almost interchangeable Brooke Hogan. But, ever the fan of a good trainwreck, it is Montag's utter inability to look natural while singing this...

Are We All Celebrity Stalkers?

Stop the Madness: How can I, an average Joe and part-time Celebritologist let the various magazines and Entertainment Tonight's [know] that I no longer want to play a part in the unraveling of Britney Spears? Sure I can stop watching the shows and buying the magazines, but by the time they feel the impact, it may be too late. -- Submitted to last week's Celebritology Live discussion Personally, I often think that given the opportunity to see pix of one of my neighbors emerging from a car in a miniskirt or video footage of a co-worker entering a rehab facility, I'd be well within my rights to add "stalker" to my list of accomplishments. My neighbors and co-workers, though, are (for the most part) private people who have not made a conscious decision to live public lives that depend on our interest in their work, but also their personalities. But...
