Anyone know what happened to part 2 of Pride and Prejudice on WETA on Sunday? I got a rerun from one of the other movies...I need my dose of Colin!!!

Posted by: Colin | February 19, 2008 8:43 AM | Report abuse

Missed this Monday! Just had a thought after clicking through the Molly Ringwald link (40! gah!) which included a birthday haiku - do a Celebritology Haiku for a Friday contest.

Say it ain't so Mo
Still Pretty in Pink to Me
Though For Keeps sucked. Bad.

"They are hurting millions of fat people in America." - from the story on Jessica Simpson's exercise tape.

No, McDonald's is hurting millions of fat people in America. Not releasing JS's exercise tape is not hurting anyone and may be saving my eyes...

Posted by: sunnydaze | February 19, 2008 8:49 AM | Report abuse

Astilean said, "They are hurting millions of fat people in America."

Somehow I think we'll survive not having to endure a vapid blond telling us, "just 5 more"

Oh, Colin, I'm sorry to hear that, here in St. Louis we got part 2 and am looking forward to part 3. I would suggest you call your local PBS station, I'd bet you wouldn't be the only Mr. Darcy fan to call.

Posted by: millie | February 19, 2008 8:49 AM | Report abuse

Also, I had no idea that Lilo was so freckled. I find the Marilyn remakes in bad taste - why would they want to do that??? Especially with a young tartlet that has shown, um, lack of judgment with drugs?

Posted by: sunnydaze | February 19, 2008 8:51 AM | Report abuse

Has anyone else noticed that Lilo now has huge, fake hooters? I noticed the other day when I saw a photo of her (clothed). Pretty soon she'll have to get butt implants to balance them, like Mariah Carey.

Posted by: possum | February 19, 2008 8:55 AM | Report abuse

If posing topless wasn't bad enough, Lohan was apparently backstage at WWE's Monday Night RAW last night.

Posted by: metatext | February 19, 2008 9:08 AM | Report abuse

I thought Lindsay looked quite natural in the photos... not fake at all. So give her a break unless you've never actually seen fake ones before. Look them up. HOWEVER - the photos were ugly. She doesn't resemble Marilyn in anyway at all. She isn't voluptuous, curvy, or as beautiful as Marilyn regardless. So it was a stupid set of photos.

Posted by: Mama | February 19, 2008 9:27 AM | Report abuse

Hey, that's weird. When I was in high school in the '80s, Molly Ringwald was older than me. Now she's younger than me. Same thing happened with Julia Roberts. It's very strange.

Posted by: time warp? | February 19, 2008 9:43 AM | Report abuse

LiLo's photos suffer even more in comparison with the orginals when you realize that when MaMo (if I may be so presumptuous as to call her that) did her shoot with Bert Stern, she was *36* - old enough to be 21-y.o. LiLo's mother.

Posted by: byoolin | February 19, 2008 9:46 AM | Report abuse

Molly Ringwald is younger than Luke Perry? That just seems weird to me.

Posted by: Stuck @ Work | February 19, 2008 9:54 AM | Report abuse

Huh? I watched part 2 of Pride and Prejudice on Sunday on WETA. At least I think I did. Was I hallucinating? Darcy dove into the lake and everything!

Posted by: h3 | February 19, 2008 9:59 AM | Report abuse

I think Molly is really just 40. She released an album in 1974 when she was six (called "I Wanna Be Loved By You, Molly Sings" if anyone wants to look it up) since her dad is a musician. That would make her 40 now. Happy Birthday Molly!

Also, what is up with Tony and his wife's outfits? Whoever dressed them the same bad way should be prohibited from picking out their clothing in the future! My eyes hurt a little.

Posted by: LitMajor | February 19, 2008 10:05 AM | Report abuse

I like the matching pants worn by Sir Anthony Hopkins and his wife. Not many couples could pull that off, but they look kinda cute together in that photo.

Posted by: time warp? | February 19, 2008 10:07 AM | Report abuse

To tie the Molly love into another topic in today's column, she and her family were friends back in the day with young Adam Carolla, since they all grew up in North Hollywood. Molly's sister Beth was a one-time Adam girlfiend and may have taken something from Adam as a teenager that he was eager to lose. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Who ever manages Mizz Lohan's career might want to rethink comparing her to Marily Monroe. Just strikes me as a really bad idea.

Posted by: EricS | February 19, 2008 10:10 AM | Report abuse

The LiLo pix only serve to point out how NOT like Marilyn Monroe she really is. Pretty pathetic actually.

In case anyone is interested, you can pop over to www.awfulplasticsurgery.com to see that yes, LiLo has fake knockers.

I remember Molly from Facts of Life.

Posted by: jelo | February 19, 2008 10:10 AM | Report abuse

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for that Lilo photoshoot. Hopefully this won't be the end of her artistic expression. My goodness is she hot.

Posted by: OD | February 19, 2008 10:15 AM | Report abuse

The LiLo photos didn't do a thing for me. Other than the blonde hair style, she didn't remind me of MM at all. The body shape is not the same.

I hope JS is successful in the lawsuit against her. Not that I care for her, but anything else with her in it is just too much...

I thought Molly was hot then and I still do...

Posted by: BDWESQTM | February 19, 2008 10:19 AM | Report abuse

Lilos breasts are real. It's obvious from the way they hang. Fake ones are easy to spot because they have a definite curve on the top half which defies gravity. Also when she got super skinny a few years ago they shrunk.

Posted by: Anonymous | February 19, 2008 10:24 AM | Report abuse

I thought Lindsay as Marilyn Monroe was pretty weak. Mariah Carey would have done a better job.

I never understood Molly Ringwood's career as an actress she stinks and as a personality she has none.

Anthony Hopkins dresses like my dad. As long as its clean, they will wear it.

Posted by: Lisa1 | February 19, 2008 10:57 AM | Report abuse

Apparently, Heather in holding out for more money in exchange for a confidentiality clause. What could she write about regarding a four year marriage? I hope the judge rules that since most of his money was made before she was even born, she is entitled NONE of it.

Posted by: ep | February 19, 2008 11:02 AM | Report abuse

Ok LL's pics are just bad. She looks like a fool. MM was HOT, LL is NOT!

Posted by: Ugly | February 19, 2008 11:09 AM | Report abuse

I'll cast my vote in the real boobs pool and also further agree MM was incredibly sexier.

Also: hooray the writers are back!!

Posted by: PGM | February 19, 2008 11:15 AM | Report abuse

My husband says that they're real... or, at least real enough looking. he goes through his monthly man magazine (mostly for the articles) playing the "Real vs. Fake" game.

Personally, I'm not sure that I buy it because she's so stick-skinny (those are arms? they look like twigs on a snowman...) that I'd think her "set" would be smaller. Imagine how they'd be were she a healthy weight?

And... a tattoo on her bum? MM didn't have one. The photogs should've makeuped/airbrushed that out.

Posted by: e2h | February 19, 2008 11:33 AM | Report abuse

Does LiLo have a tramp stamp or a bruise? Can't tell from the angle. Note to all would be tattoo-ees: tattoos at the base of the spine look like bruises from the side.

Posted by: MoCoSnarky | February 19, 2008 11:46 AM | Report abuse

not to brag -- but (ahem) it is possible to have a nice rack and be skinny. It helps to have professional lighting and just the right pose, of course

In the celebaby article, (or is that sell-a-baby?) there was a reader post that suggested that these celebrity tots be put to 'good use' by 'mining their body parts.'

Boy, we're kittens when compared to other celebrity chat post groups.

Looking for the some real Marilyn Monroe photos of the last sitting, I read this quote in an article about it: "I had nothing on but the radio." How carelessly cool.
The LiLo thing doesn't bother me - emulating a classic will always be better than a earning your notoriety as the train wreck du jour.

Posted by: rachelt | February 19, 2008 12:06 PM | Report abuse

As someone with her own set of natually ample bosoms, LL's are real. What's really sad is that LL actually looks older than MM did. Hard living does wonders for the skin.

Posted by: millie | February 19, 2008 12:09 PM | Report abuse

I'm pretty sure those suckers are real. It is possible to have non-matching T&A. Plus they're not the same size, which is pretty normal in nature, but I'd imagine if she paid for them she would have gotten fixed. I do, however, second that A curves would have softened the pictures the way that MM did. Plus that humor thing they comment on, Lilo doesn't exude it. She's obviously thinking of how cool she is in the pictures and not about having fun.

Yay, freckles. Why can't she go around in all her pale glory rather than that orange fakeness?

Posted by: Em | February 19, 2008 12:19 PM | Report abuse

Another difference: Marilyn Monroe could really act.

Posted by: possum | February 19, 2008 12:24 PM | Report abuse

Did anyone see Priscilla Presely on GMA this morning?

The horror! The horror! She's had some of the worst "work." Does she honestly think she looks GOOD? It's sad, she was very very pretty before.

Being 15 years older than someone makes you old enough to be their mother? Yikes!

hangin' in herndon: 15 is unfortunately plenty old enough. My daughter's high school has a daycare ONSITE. Something like 20 freshmen started the year pregnant or already moms.

We started on WETA for Pride and Prejudice and they were starting Northanger Abby! So we switched to MPT and they had it right. Apparently at some point WETA realized they majorly F'ed up and put P&P on because at the end, we switched back to WETA and it was the P&P end credits. Would have been nice to watch it in HD though.

Lindsay Lohan, what were you thinking? Stupid girl. Now I'll never be able to watch "The Parent Trap" remake with my kids again without wanting to stab out my eyes with ice picks.

What's next, another Disney-made teen star remaking Madonna's "Sex" book? Honestly! Keep your clothes on, girls! PLEASE.

Posted by: td | February 19, 2008 1:29 PM | Report abuse

The 'LiLo as Marilyn' photos are a weak and cheesy imitation, characterized by a lack of emotive chemistry between the subject and the photographer. MaMo had it without even trying; Lilo couldn't summon it to save her life.

Here's something for ya, Millie:

Pink and Carey Hart split up. Is anyone surprised? I believe they were just going on and on recently about how happy they are and how they are not splitting up. Always a dead giveaway ...

Lilo bares it all? That's not news. We've already seen her ... ahem ... "all". Bald as it is. A few times I believe.

Posted by: Yawn | February 19, 2008 2:36 PM | Report abuse

I know MM, and Ms. LL you are no MM.

P.S. What happened to your skin, Ms. LL? Why are there so many dots on your skin? Maybe you are just dirty and a quick shower can wash those off?

Posted by: Mickey | February 19, 2008 3:08 PM | Report abuse

That is totally weird, because I watched P&P from the beginning on WETA and it was fine! I got the cheesy Gillian Anderson intro and everything! I wonder if they feed separately to cable and air? I get my TV through rabbit ears...did the people who had problems watch it on cable?

Posted by: h3 | February 19, 2008 3:39 PM | Report abuse

Wait...is that Stella Hopkins real sweater or is she wearing something obscene that had to be pixellated?

(Hoping for the latter...perhaps a picture of a nude LiLo!)

Posted by: MoCoSnarky | February 19, 2008 3:42 PM | Report abuse

LiLo's boobs look very real and not at all fake. She has a nice figure, although she'd look better if she had more hips.

Her photo shoot is not at all sexy or artistic like MM's was. There's just a huge difference between the two, and the photo shoot established that huge difference.

I see cattiness and jealousy came out to play in the comments today. I won't even respond to all the inaneness.

But I will note that the last commenter thinks freckles are "dirty". And we wonder why girls have image issues - because of people's stupid ideas like that. Thanks, jacka$$.

=======================================
For the love of god, this is what this blog is about, making catty/snarky comments about celebrities and sometime each other. As someone mentioned earlier, we're pretty tame compared to some other blogs. So if you don't like it, take your high minded a$$ to another blog where everyone is nice to everyone and no one is smart or funny.

Thank you.

How come when I click on the home page link I get a weeks-old version of your blog; and if I do a search on "Liz Kelly" and click on the results I get a different weeks-old version?

Marilyn was married to Joe DiMaggio...not Mickey Mantle...

Posted by: kab | February 19, 2008 10:05 PM | Report abuse

At age 21 Marilyn Monroe was no Marilyn Monroe.

LL is a better actress at 21 than MM was at the same age. In 15 years LL will probably have a fuller figure then also. She will probably not be drug addled and suicidal then though. MM as a paragon of virtue? That is very novel.

I'm just grateful it wasn't Anthony Hopkins being asked to pose as Marilyn.

hmmm... i've got a dollar that 15 years from now LiLo will have long since made decisions that rendered her just so much worm food - but even if she doesnt she wont be as unbelievably hot as MM. Lesson to people - if you cant compare favorably to an icon - for the love of god - dont do things like this.

Then again - it does serve to remind everone how beautiful MM was and how tragic the loss.

Lohan Lohanadanna. So not anywhere near MM's league in either sexitude or fabulosity. So you have the capacity and an addled enough brain to go out there and die young? Who needs more in common? You're on the cover!

We are clearly living in some bizarre corner of the Matrix where female beauty is rigidly defined as Tori Spelling's body, with the heads switched every so often.
