Is Beyonce Headed Into the Danger Zone?

That's what I asked myself this morning when I saw pix of B at last night's MTV Europe Awards. Again, she's sporting that freaky hand exoskeleton and again she's channeling some kind of retro-futuristic look in her choice of performance wear. Is she really thinking that any good can come of this sudden love of props and overdone costumes? Has she, to be blunt, crossed the invisible line into celebrity whackadoodle territory? Before I ask you to make a pronouncement on Beyonce's general sanity or ability to dress herself, I will ask you to consider the following: Exhibit A: The Hand Thingy (Getty Images) It's Freddy Krueger meets Edward Scissorhands meets the Gloved One. And the pose should be entered into the record: exhibit A, subsection I. Get that thing out of your mouth -- who knows where it's been. And, trust me, Jay-Z may be into cyborg-kink, but I'm...

Clip N' Save: 10 Steps to Take Amy Winehouse from Train Wreck to Comeback Kid

Amy Winehouse lunges at photographers outside her London home on Wednesday. (AP) True to form our 2008 Train Wreck of the Year, Amy Winehouse, is on course to end the year with a bang. And then possibly a whimper. Husband Blake Fielder-Civil, for whom Amy has pined o'er these long months of separation, was at last released from jail yesterday. (He was locked up for attacking a pub landlord, then attempting to buy his victim's silence) But, Winehouse was not there to greet him and Fielder-Civil was reportedly rushed off to rehab to fulfill the terms of his release. Instead, Winehouse used this opportunity to line the pockets of some lucky paps who scored excellent shots of an enraged Winehouse, who didn't seem incredibly happy about her husband's new situation. But, we here at Celebritology HQ expect much of our Train Wrecks. Last year's winner emerged as this year's...

Four Words of Doom: Bottomless Jogging Steve Guttenberg

How could celebrity news possibly compete with what The Post editorial page is labeling a "momentous" occasion? By going beneath the belt. Steve Guttenberg's belt, to be specific. There isn't much over the past 24 hours that has managed to draw my attention away from exit polls, electoral counts and a ridiculous stretch of cable news watching. That is, until I saw Guttenberg -- one-time star of family-friendly '80s fare like "Three Men and a Baby -- jogging through Central Park with his naughty bits on display for all and sundry to see. That's right. Clicking here will reveal a new world to you -- a world where actors who haven't seen a hit since the Reagan administration jog through public spaces bottomless. (Note: Although Steve's stuff is sufficiently blurred out in the footage, I'm still going to go ahead and call this one Not Safe For Work.) For those...

Tuesday List: Driving Election Day to Distraction

Updated 4:54 p.m. ET (scroll down) What do Snoop Dogg and former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins have to do with today's presidential election? Absolutely nothing. (Getty Images) As long as we're planning to do our duty and vote (if you're a registered voter, find your polling place here), I think it only fair that we have a neutral corner in which to retreat from all the backing-and-forthing, lefting-and-righting and exit-polling. A place where we can put aside partisan politics and agree on certain inalienable truths. Truths that tether us to reality because, like the sun rising each morning, these things will always be so: Paris Hilton will never be a Ph.D candidate, the Olsen twins will ALWAYS look 14-years-old, Suri Cruise is (probably) wearing a dress today, Oprah Winfrey is never going away, somewhere Amy Winehouse is waking up and looking for her ratty pink ballet slippers, and, yes, Diddy...

Comment Box: Celebrity Inventors. Who Knew?

Weird random celeb factoid: Neil Young (you know, "Heart of Gold," "Cinnamon Girl," etc., etc.?) holds six patents for inventions having to do with model trains. -- Byoolin comments in last week's Celebritology Live discussion That is indeed a weird, random fact -- but being a long-time Neil Young fan and a know-it-all when it comes to celeb stuff, I actually was already familiar with his love of model trains. Still, your comment got me to thinking about some of the other celebrities who have attempted to better the world by sharing their genius. Michael Jackson's anti-gravity illusion boot. (Image courtesy U.S. Patent and Trademark Office) To name a few: Michael Jackson's Method and Means for Creating Anti-gravity Illusion. Turns out his calf muscles aren't that strong. Jacko actually devised a contraption that allowed the heels of his shoes to hitch into some kind of slot on stage. At least...
