Jennifer Aniston Has No Clothes

First of all, I'd like to apologize to all you fans of Jennifer Aniston out there who continue to find solace in this woman's wooden acting and lackluster films and her now four-year crusade to let Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt know she's nonplussed about the whole cheating/marriage break-up thing. But it must be noted for posterity that Aniston, of whom I am terminally sick, has made an uncharacteristically risky move. Or, risky for her. In the onslaught of promotion leading up to the release of her newest acting challenge, "Marley & Me," Jen has played the nearly-naked magazine spread card. A tactic, as I'm sure you're well aware, often employed by actresses struggling to spin their way out of scandal, irrelevancy and advancing age. Aniston on the cover of January's GQ. (AP/Censoring courtesy this blogger) Sadly, we can't reproduce the exact image here because we are The Washington Post...

Celeb Psychology 101: Just What the Doctor Ordered

Ready for a daily dose of celebrity mental health news? Teetering celebs have been the subject of much discussion here. Along with candid photos snapped by invasive paps, news of erratic celebrity behavior has become a staple of the gossip blogosphere. We watch, fascinated, as Amy Winehouse morphs from the next big thing into trainwreck of the year; we scrutinize Britney Spears's every move for signs of a slip back to her head-shaving, British accented bizarro Britney persona; David Hasselhoff's drunken home videos go viral; and when Pam Anderson shows up at a high profile event pantsless and with a somewhat rabid cast to the eyes, well, one does wonder if she is channeling Anna Nicole Smith. And, quite rightly, Psych Central, has launched the brand new Celebrity Psychings -- a blog dedicated to monitoring celebrity mental health issues with the hope that we can all actually learn a thing...

Celeb Politik: Senator Drescher?

Fran Drescher, political wannabe. (AP) The latest celeb with pretensions to serve the public? Fran Drescher. Yes, the nasally New Yawker who has been knocking around since the end of her way-too-long-lived sitcom "The Nanny," has let it be known that she'd make a fine replacement for Hillary Clinton's soon-to-be-vacated New York Senate seat. Celebrity crossovers into public office are not a new phenomenon. Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gopher from "Love Boat," Sonny Bono, Al Franken, Barack Obama (I kid!) -- enough wattage there to outshine that hammy Barney Frank and take the lustre right off Sarah Palin's 15 minutes of fame. But despite the actress's work to raise awareness about women's cancers and Larry King's pronouncement that the Bronx native is "a great broad," are we really ready for Senator Drescher? Oh, the filibusters. Below, I've compiled a list of possible New York-based celebrity candidates -- including Drescher...

Style-o-Metrics: Rate Cate

Even fashion royals are allowed an off day every now and then, nay? Which is why we won't be too severe with Cate Blanchett for wearing a papier mache body cast to the L.A. premiere of her new movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." (Reuters) I generally get all misty eyed and euphoric when I see Cate walk a red carpet. She's has a proven history of (mostly) unerring, impeccable taste that has -- thus far -- kept her in the rarified ranks of the gracefully fashion forward, whatever those nit-picky Fug girls may say. But this dress, well -- I'm undecided. And only because it is on Cate, who normally isn't insensitive enough to put us -- her fashion faithful -- in the position of having to defend a questionable ensemble. I'm liking the color, the sparkle, the nude shoes, the understated maquillage, even the vaguely Spanx-ish pencil...

Comment Box: Julia Roberts -- Not Gone, But Forgotten?

Julia Roberts as Joanne Herring in 'Charlie Wilson's War.' (AP) Hey, What ever happened to Julia Roberts? Didn't she used to be some big time movie star? Last I heard she went to Broadway and was never heard from again. -- Trenton, N.J. It's true, Roberts's projects have been anything but blockbuster since she won her Oscar for her turn as a buxom, spunky crusader in 2000's "Erin Brockovich," but rumors of her demise are greatly exaggerated. In fact, she's been working at a steady -- albeit slower -- pace all along. Perhaps you missed her as George Clooney's wife in "Oceans 11" (and "12"), or opposite Sam Rockwell in the Clooney-directed "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," as a free-thinking art teacher chafing at the strictures of '50s American life in "Mona Lisa Smile" or as the voice of Charlotte the spider in 2006's "Charlotte's Web." "Brokovich" was the...
