John Travolta's 16-Year-Old Son Dies

John Travolta and Kelly Preston at last year's Academy Awards. (Getty Images) The Associated Press is reporting that the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston is dead. Authorities in the Bahamas, where the family owns a vacation home, say Jett Travolta suffered a seizure on Friday morning while in the bathtub and fell, fatally hitting his head. He was declared dead. According to TMZ.com, authorities will be performing an autopsy to try to ascertain a specific cause of death. Rumors that Jett suffered from autism have long swirled in Hollywood, though Travolta and Preston have never publicly admitted that Jett had ever been diagnosed with the condition, which is not officially recognized by the church of Scientology, of which they are members. According to People magazine's Web site, Preston has said in past interviews that Jett suffered from many conditions, including asthma and Kawasaki disease, a condition...

What Would Gwyneth Do... in the Bathroom

Gwyneth Paltrow wants adults to eat this goop. Hehe. (Image courtesy GOOP) Dear Gwyneth Paltrow, This GOOP thing has taken on a whole new meaning with your latest weekly dispatch. And I'm telling you, it is not a good meaning. Let me be blunt: If I want advice about bowel movements I'll ask a "Gray's Anatomy" cast member, vet, real doctor, my mom, but -- trust me on this -- the last thing I need, want or expect from an Oscar-winnng actress (even if that was just beginner's luck) is folksy, new age blathering about sluggish bowels. I mean, please -- no wonder your husband has a soundproof panic room. Where else can he evacuate in peace? And, no, I didn't write you just so I could post an open letter which would forever link your name to "bowel movements" in Google search, but lady, you have got to...

2008's Most Shocking Celebrity Story?

Heath Ledger's January 2008 death took everyone by surprise. But was it the year's biggest? (AP) My first few years in a newsroom, I was tasked with assembling year end packages -- the kind of thing that made up yesterday's amalgam of 2008 lists. So, when confronted with eulogizing a fading year, some primal instinct to call in sick takes over. Which is all to say that you can thank me now for not getting all emotional, pithy, poetic or needlessly verbose in the commission of banging out a farewell 2008 story. But what kind of celebritologist would I be if I didn't try to make some kind of sense -- no matter how tangential or obtuse -- out of the year that was? The kind that passes the buck on to you. I'm ashamed, but a leopard can't change its stripes any more than Tara Reid can do...

How Webby is Michael Lohan?

Screen capture from MichaelLohanOnline.com. Would celebrities exist without a complement of hangers-on or would they, like the ephemeral dreams clad in leggings they are, simply evaporate from lack of adulation? I posit that the varied remoras which populate the ocean of celebrity as assistants, spouses, paparazzi and skeletal stylists may be just as important as the big fish to which they cling. Which is why today we will take a look at little fish Michael Lohan's latest project, a Web site. There's no need for you to personally surf on over to Lohan's -- father of erstwhile Disney darling and questionably sapphic deejay aficionado Lindsay -- site yourself. Though it does have a certain DIY charm, the automatically launching soundtrack of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" is enough to make this site a no-no for workplace surfers. But, if you insist on having a peek, here is a link. You'll...
