Friday List: Most Annoying TV Personality Ever?

'The View's' Hasselbeck: Most annoying? (AP) Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck the most annoying TV personality? She is according to several readers who wrote in to yesterday's Celebritology Live discussion to register their distaste with the perky blond Republican "View" co-host. Here's the post that kicked off the frenzy: "I loathe Elisabeth Hasselbeck. This bim has basically done nothing of note except marry a rich football player and be on a reality show. Yet she is a very well-paid person on television; for sure she makes more than I ... but other than Kelly Ripa, I can't think of a TV personality I detest more." Does Hasselbeck have you frothing at the mouth, too? Or is it Ann Curry's smiling face that sends you over the edge in the morning? Or are you perhaps contemplating how to avoid ever seeing Jay Leno on your new HD set? Vote for the Most...

'Lost' Dueling Analyses: Jughead

In which we discuss this week's episode of TV's most confounding show with nary a mention of "Archie" comics (except this one). Share your theories and questions this afternoon at 3 p.m. ET in the "Lost Hour discussion. Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) gets a closer look at Jughead. (ABC) Jen: I believe we should start this week's analysis by raising a question once posed by Marty McFly in the time-travel classic, "Back to the Future." And that question is: "Are you telling me this sucker is nuclear?" We all got a load of Jughead -- the hydrogen bomb located on the island circa 1954, and, coincidentally, the name of this episode. And I think it's safe to assume that said bomb will indeed be buried underground. And that the radiation seeping from it will eventually reach a certain Dharma station and be unleashed by a certain frozen donkey wheel....

Reality Check: "Housewives'" Alex McCord Still Annoying

Thanks to reality TV, I have not only A, B and C list celebrities to cover here, but an exponentially multiplying list of wannabes spawned by the sweet scourge that is reality TV. Who else have I to thank for that endlessly entertaining gift, Tiffany "New York" Pollard, or the images of Aubrey O'Day's ("Making the Band") fashion fiascos forever burned into my retinas? And without "The Hogan Family" would we even live in a world where Linda Hogan's dalliances with a teen-aged boytoy give us plenty of opportunities for a little snarky fun? Today, we check in on Alex McCord -- one of the stars of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New York" (returning for a second season next month) -- and her husband, the effeminitely pretentious Simon Van Kempen. You may remember Alex as the one from Kansas who named her sons Francois and Johan and spends ridiculous amounts...

Spector Trial Watch: Now Hair This

And now and update on a story Celebritology first brought you in 2007: The forecast for Phil Spector's hair? Continued freakishness with a chance of fake-itude. The legendary music producer is is in the midst of a retrial on charges that he murdered B-movie star Lana Clarkson in 2003 (his first trial ended in a hung jury in 2007). But the real headline remains Spector's ever-in-flux hairdo, which has has gone way past outré to arrive at the creepy Hobbitt stage. To be precise, he conjures Gollum mixed with a little Bruce Vilanch who accidentally got caught in an aerosol Scotchguarding chamber: I'll continue to monitor this story as the trial progresses. Review Spector's past questionable coifs in this gallery. (Photos: Gollum courtesy New Line Productions, Spector and Vilanch - AP)...

Celebritology 101: Red Carpet Moments from Hell

It was as if someone had walked into the room carrying a flatulent skunk. In fact, that might have been a relief compared to the uncomfortable silence that ensued last week when, at a pre-inaugural red carpet event, a reporter of unknown provenance asked actress Kerry Washington for her thoughts on Jennifer Hudson's upcoming performance at the Super Bowl vis a vis the brutal murders of Hudson's family. The look on Washington's face telegraphed wonderment (who is this idiot?), fear (is she dangerous?) and split-second analysis (can I slap her?) before she quietly said, "I don't think that's an appropriate topic for me to discuss." You get the picture. Say what you will about Joan Rivers's shock-and-awe interviews of yesteryear, but red carpets these days are lousy with an ever-expanding gaggle of correspondents who all graduated from the same program: about three sessions at the closest tanning salon. On...
