Inaugural Gawking: Where Will Oprah Be?
Oprah Winfrey is coming to D.C. She may already be here. She plans to tape two very special shows at the Kennedy Center. That much is certain. But how will the enthusiastic Obama fan plan spend the rest of her time in D.C.? Her plans have been a bit under wraps. A rumored Oprah-fronted inaugural ball seems to have evaporated, but that doesn't mean O won't be all over the week's festivities.
Below, the latest intel on Oprah's D.C. visit:
According to the New York Post, Oprah -- the queen of daytime talk -- has booked the $15,000-a-night "Royal Suite" for five nights. The suite's many perks include a personal shopping assistant, private exercise room and "a sculptural bathtub [with a] a crystal fixture elegantly draped overhead."
Sunday: Oprah is rumored to be among the guests for The Root's Sunday evening ball at the National Museum of American History. (TheRoot.com). Confirmed guests include Spike Lee, John Singleton, Chris Tucker and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Monday: Production of Oprah's show will effectively shut down the Kennedy Center and guests include Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Bono, Will.i.am, Faith Hill, Seal, David Foster, and Mary J. Blige and maybe even Scarlett Johansson. But if you don't already have tickets (and they sold out in early December), stay away. It's doubtful you'll get close enough for a sighting.
In the evening, Oprah is expected to make an appearance at Arianna Huffington's Huffington Post Ball at D.C.'s Newseum.
Wednesday: Oprah moves live production of her show to Capitol Hill's Art and Soul Restaurant. Located in the Liaison Hotel, the eatery is owned by Oprah's former personal chef, Art Smith. Guests are rumored to include Forest Whitaker, Jon Bon Jovi and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin.
TBD: Oprah is allegedly throwing a private brunch at a secret location at an equally secret date and time.
Where will O spend inauguration day itself? Your guess is as good as mine.
