Insta-Poll: Who Makes the Best Marilyn Monroe?

Scarlett Johansson was once rumored to be in the running to play Marilyn Monroe in a big screen biopic about the iconic actress. That never materialized, but ScarJo is undoubtedly channeling Monroe in Dolce & Gabbana's latest ad campaign: Scarlett Johansson in the new D&G campaign. (Image courtesy Dolce & Gabbana) Since Johansson is only the latest in a string of starlets to cop Monroe's style, I thought I'd ask who makes the best Marilyn. Take a look at these pictures, then cast your vote below: Clockwise: Lindsay Lohan (New York Magazine), Madonna (Reuters), Mira Sorvino (HBO), Christina Aguilera (Reuters), Drew Barrymore (AP), Anna Nicole Smith (AP). poll by twiigs.com If I missed other faux Monroes, share your faves below. And tell me... who else would make a smashing Marilyn?...

'Lost' Dueling Analysis: 'He's Our You'

In which Jen Chaney and I write volumes in an attempt to make sense of yet another action-packed episode of our favorite show, "Lost." But what do we know? Join us at 3 p.m. ET to chat live about your pet theories. It's all fun and games for Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Sayid (Naveen Andrews) until someone gets drugged and lashed to a tree. (ABC) Liz: If you haven't watched last night's episode yet, then please avert your eyes starting now. Still with us? Good, then we can assume that you, too, nearly ruined your couch upholstery at the moment in last night's show when Sayid matter of factly gunned down young Ben Linus, the once and future sociopath. But before we get too far down the wormhole of plotting what the future (present?) looks like if Ben was killed at "Wizards of Waverly Place" age, let's consider --...

If U Seek Britney Mania, Look No Further Than Verizon Center

While the brave Josh DuLac covered the main event of last night's stop of the Britney Spears "Circus" tour at Verizon Center (Question: How long can the human ear survive in the face of piercing shrieks?), I was all over the outside, armed only with hard-hitting questions and an intrepid videographer. Fans were fired up, scalpers circled and expectations were high for a visit from pop's resurgent princess. And, because one should never squander the chance to learn something (even from girls with fake tans and boys with fake boobs), here are a few things I picked up last night: 1. Britney is big in Baltimore. Out of the scores of people I talked with outside the Verizon Center, one in three copped to being from Charm City. Though I also talked to one fan who trekked here all the way from Australia just to see Brit on stage. 2....

D.C. Now Hip Enough for Vampires

Author Chris Farnsworth thinks Clive Owen would make a smashing vampire. (Photo Illustration by Liz Kelly/AP Photo) No doubt about it: Since the changeover in administrations, Washington, D.C. has become a veritable magnet for celebs, for once actually earning it the moniker "Hollywood on the Potomac." So it isn't too surprising to find that in the wake of the star-studded inaugural events, first lady Michelle Obama's high-wattage White House visitors, TMZ's arrival in town and tomorrow's planned TV-magic 20-foot fireball over the Potomac that D.C. has reached the ultimate in hip factor: vampires. In a deal announced yesterday, author Christopher Farnsworth has signed a three-book deal for his "Blood Oath" series of books about a vampire "sworn to protect the U.S. president against supernatural threats." Think of it as "Twilight" meets "In the Line of Fire." And, not surprisingly, the series has already attracted some attention from Hollywood, though...

Comment Box: A Magazine Cover Double Standard?

Jennifer Hudson on the cover of March 2007's Vogue. (Vogue) In last week's Celebritology Live chat, we got a bit verklempt in discussing Tyson Beckford's statement that actors and musicians should leave magazine covers to models, saying it takes "a lot of tweaking and airbrushing to get the same from a celebrity that you would get from a model." I won't excerpt the entire back-and-forth here, but to summarize: One reader wrote in to agree with Beckford, recounting his (or her) disgust upon finding a plump Jack Black on a GQ cover. I countered that I'd prefer Black over Beckford; he's got character. Then, another reader took exception to my logic saying that, "No women with the appearance quirks of Jack Black is ever allowed on a magazine cover (or really onscreen) -- no Janeane Garofalo, Kathy Najimy, Nia Vardolos, or Katey Segal allowed." Okay, fair enough. For the...
