Paris Hilton's Doggy Style

(Image courtesy Remember Beyonce's Dereon Girls line -- the range of clothes that finally made it possible for pre-tween girls to look like tiny club skanks? Well, Paris Hilton took a similar idea and, instead of applying it to the age inappropriate, she's targeted a new untapped market: vapid fashion-obsessed dogs. Or, rather, vapid fashion-obsessed dog owners who have no qualms at all about forcing their pups into clothing. Her Paris Hilton for Little Lily line includes a Floral Hearts dress ($56), pajamas ($48) or a mini skirt ($52) that would probably make both dog and owner a prime target for zombie clowns or David Letterman (same diff). As in the human world, larger breeds seem to have been given short shrift -- size large only accommodates dogs weighing 15-20 pounds. But boy dogs can rest easy -- Hilton's collection includes a doggie necktie ($15.60). In other celeb...

Brad Pitt: Lost in Translation?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with children Maddox and Zahara in 2006. (AP) As I sit writing this blog post, the sharp morning light catches a whisper of sweat on my brow, and -- if anyone happened to be looking -- he or she would also register a distinctly sardonic cast to my countenance as I read a new interview with Brad Pitt on the Web site of German newspaper BILD. Here's a sampling that might explain my gag-worthy previous sentence: BILD: Are you scared of ageing? Brad Pitt (smirking): The grey hairs on his beard glisten: "No I like it. I think it's good." "The grey hairs on his beard glisten?" Ick bin nauseated. Celebrity interviews are often exercises in inanity. We know this. Many stars only make themselves available to press when it becomes financially expedient -- to promote a new film or show or album or...

Child Actors: The 'Mini Working Class' co-founder Olivia Allen cites Dakota Fanning as a good role model for potential kid actors. (Summit Entertainment) Hollywood is notoriously tough -- a town that can put aspiring actors through a punishing gauntlet of auditions, criticism and then, if you're lucky enough to get work, hours of time on set. But imagine being, say, 10 years old and instead of just worrying about the swim team or a science quiz, working twice as hard to keep up in school so you can ditch class to attend auditions on demand. "There is a whole world out there of child actors who most people aren't even aware of," says Lorena Mena, who along with partner Olivia Allen, recently founded the Web site "I like to call them the mini working class." And some ("Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe comes to mind) navigate that world better than others (Miley Cyrus and...

Chris Brown's Apology -- Are You Buying It?

Chris Brown is sorry for the delay in publicly apologizing for roughing up then-girlfriend Rihanna back in February, but don't blame him. It's the lawyers, he says in a two-minute video posted to YouTube, MySpace, his own Web site and blasted out to media outlets Tuesday afternoon. Brown, who pleaded guilty to a felony in exchange for community service and five years of probation in June, says he's been ready to apologize for months: I'm sure this thing keeps the guy up nights, but I have to wonder about his motivation for posting an online apology five months after the fact. If Brown was truly regretful for roughing up his girlfriend, is posting a Webby mea culpa truly helpful? Or is it a desperate move in an attempt to forestall his quickly-dimming, once-bright future? Ken Noyes, executive director of the D.C. Coalition Against Domestic Violence, says that while his organization...

Gunning for a Baldwin Run? Where's Lucy Lawless?

I like hairy politicians: Is there still time for me to move to Ohio to vote for Alec Baldwin if he runs for office? Or will I run into some crazy residency requirement stuff? -- from last week's Celebritology Live chat. Alec Baldwin. (AP) If Alec Baldwin takes an Ohio law firm up on its offer to "launch his political career" with a run for the Ohio governorship in 2012, you would only need to actually live in the state for about a month ahead of the election. According to the pastel-heavy Ohio Secretary of State's Web site, hopeful Baldwin supporters need only to "be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 consecutive days immediately before the election in which you want to vote." Well, as long as that residence isn't a jail or prison. But I wouldn't start packing up just yet. In an interview in Playboy's...
