Are Liz and Joel Achenbach trying to get me fired? There is no way I am clicking on that Brooke Shields link.

Posted by: yellojkt | September 30, 2009 8:40 AM | Report abuse

yello, the pic in question is not at the link -- just a story about it.

Posted by: Liz Kelly | September 30, 2009 8:41 AM | Report abuse

And Winona Judd's home school teacher probably shouldn't either.

Posted by: yellojkt | September 30, 2009 8:41 AM | Report abuse

Liz,
Still not taking any chances. I really don't need the words 'nude' 'underage' and 'child pornography' in my browser cache. Any more than they already are.

Posted by: yellojkt | September 30, 2009 8:43 AM | Report abuse

And the difference between 'hired home school teacher' and 'private tutor' (other than multiple layers of pretentiousness) is?....

Isn't hiring a teacher kind of missing the point of home schooling?

yellojkt:

I clicked the Brooke Shields link and can confirm no picture - but the article is yet another example of exploitation of a young girl. Disgusting - Brooke was only 10 years old, they put make up on her and had her stand nude in a bathtub and took her picture. Of course, blame goes first to the mother, BUT blame should also be at the adults who continue to display and profit off this picture that Brooke has tried many times to prevent being shown, and has tried to buy all the negatives in order to destroy the picture.

I feel bad for Brooke, and for the rest of the children since the entire world of "artists" seems to want to protect all child exploiters and abusers (see the recent petition by all the Hollywood artists whining about Polanski's arrest).

Of course, Woody Allen - the one who took nude pictures of his children's teenage sister, and then evenutally married her - is a BIG supporter of Polanski.

Posted by: Amelia5 | September 30, 2009 9:08 AM | Report abuse

Teri Shields was well-known for pandering an underage Brooke. Amelia you are right-on (does anyone still say that) about the parallels to the Polanski case. Beyond all the swirl these things generate, we should all be able to agree that the byproducts of child sexual abuse (and child abuse in general) should be shunned by moral people.

Thank goodness Kate rhymes with 8.

Posted by: MzFitz | September 30, 2009 9:21 AM | Report abuse

MzFitz, that's the only reason TLC choose Kate over Jon...

Posted by: kawilson69 | September 30, 2009 9:26 AM | Report abuse

Someone should tell Tori the stomach pain she is experiencing is called "hunger pangs." If you eat, they go away.

Posted by: SweetieJ | September 30, 2009 9:27 AM | Report abuse

The revamped TLC show will feature all Kate's personalities -- the bad-hair Kate, the talk-show Kate, and six more....

Candy! The Tori voodoo doll works!

Fortunately for Janet, 1) black is slimming and 2) she has a full wardrobe from her "Rhythm Nation" days. But she'd better avoid Jermaine Dupri during flu season because black tends do show everything that gets on it.

Tori Spelling hospitalized with severe stomach pain...
-Somebody check the oats in her feedbag.

Edward Furlong's estranged wife alleges the actor is suicidal, using drugs...
-also kept talking about killer robots and how much Christian Bale sucks.

I would love to see an attorney for the children appointed in the Jon and Kate divorce proceedings who advocates that the children no longer be exploited. Custody goes to the parent WITHOUT the reality show.

The list of celebs supporting Polanski is long and disgusting. Which part of SEX WITH A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD confuses people? The girl even testified she said no. So, it is not even a matter of she was too young to consent -- she clearly didn't.

Posted by: epjd | September 30, 2009 9:39 AM | Report abuse

Which part of PHOTO OF A NAKED TEN-YEAR-OLD did Teri Shields not understand? I'm pretty sure that if I had that picture on my hard drive I could be locked up for a long, long time.

Posted by: yellojkt | September 30, 2009 9:43 AM | Report abuse

But I am all in favor of any Jodie Foster project involving a beaver.

Sure, watch "Kate Plus Eight". I'm holding out for the waitaminnit-I'm-not-the-ex-yet husband's spinoff, "Jon Plus Not A Single Redeeming Human Quality."

I expect that another open letter from Candy Spelling is in the mail, this one enumerating the reasons that Tori deserves her severe stomach pain.

One problem with displaying photos of a nude, underaged Brooke Shields at an art gallery is that there are so few stalls in the men's room.

Don't worry, Kristin Cavallari: the notches on John Mayer's belt are purely decorative; his pants are actually held up by concealed suspenders.

Is Mel Gibson a secret Furry? Inquiring minds want to know!

"Architectural Digest goes inside Michael Jackson's Neverland." Ahh, the annual "Wretched Excess" issue. I never miss it.

Janet Jackson, once you go black...

I'm interested to see Miley Cyrus on SATC if only to see how old Kim Catrall looks when they're side-by-side. (And as I wrote that, a voice in the back of my head started repeating the word, "Gorgon." Odd.)

"Great television"? Bruce Jenner's all-Wheaties diet appears to have led to some alarming symptoms.

After watching Amy Winehouse rap, I begin to suspect that maybe drug addiction is her true calling.

This would explain the endless loop of "Lonely Night (Angel Face)" currently playing in my head. Just thought I'd share.

Hah! Jon Plus Not A Single Redeeming Human Quality - that's awesome!

Fascinating that he put a stop to the divorce once he was cut from the show. Guess he can't score with the ladies if he's not on tv. What a swine.

I am impressed and admire the fact that Brooke Shields seems relatively normal with that childhood she endured. I have always liked her. It is a shame her friend, Michael, did not fare as well.

Jon just figured out that he's getting the well deserved short-end of the stick.

SweetieJ, LOL! Eat a sandwhich already, Tori! (now I'm really gonna feel bad if she has appendicitis or an ulcer, or something like that).

Never thought I would say, "Hey, Mel. Nice beaver."

Again, RIP Patrick.

Apparently the whole family is sick including the two young children. The baby has been vomiting and at least two of them have been to the hospital for dehydration. I don't think a sandwich is going to fix it.

Janet Jackson wore blue in a photo from fashion week in Milan over the weekend, so this is beyond "rumor mill" to flat-out false!

I see "Will and Jada Pinkett Smith" and my mind just goes "meh".

I can't even begin to care about the Kardashian/Jenner crowd. They make white trash look GOOD.

And, re: the Roman Polanski debacle - it's not "sex" with a 13-year-old girl, it's "rape". Just wanted to clarify all of that.

Not clicking on any links today--

"TLC renames show "Kate Plus Eight"... Jon Gosselin puts the brakes on divorce proceedings..."
- I've always had the feeling there'd be a bigger fight over custody of the TV show than over custody of the kids.

"Mel Gibson runs with a beaver puppet on his hand..."
- What a terrible thing to call Oksana Grigorieva.

"Janet Jackson plans to only wear black until one-year anniversary of Michael's death."
- Janet always wore black....hey, has he been dead for longer than we realized?

"Jude Law refuses to see baby until paternity is proven..."
- He would have played that differently had he been running for President.

"Kristin Cavallari refused to 'be a notch' on John Mayer's belt..."
- She's holding out for being a feather on his cap.

Glad neither of them was named Ben or Jen, or we'd have two more of them.

Given the number of people receiveing reality shows for procreating, I think that this:
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20309161,00.html
is the most honorable thing Spencer Pratt had ever done. Not only is he not getting his wife knocked up to ensure that they have another reality show, but he's being honest about it. Albeit a bit crass, but honest.

Spencer, while I smile at the idea of you cutting your nuts off, that's actually not how the surgery works... unless you go to a veterinarian.

ValGal, re Tori, thanks, now I do feel bad! Don't wish gastroenteritis on anyone. (except maybe Polanski).

MzFita, pssst, don't tell him. I would love to see him get his nuts cut off.

Every time I read anything about Teri Shields I understand why Brooke and Michael Jackson got along so well.

And that Janet Jackson wearing black story is very false. In addition to wearing that fabulous blue gown to the amFAR gala in Milan she was also photographed in gray last week.

Brooke Shields' mother needs to be locked up for child abuse. Porning her daughter at age 10? OMG.

Why is Janet Jackson's decision news? That's been done for centuries. It's called wearing mourning.

That's Amy Wine-o? At first glance I thought it was either Keith Richards or Alice Cooper.

Sorry hodie, didn't mean to guilt ya! :) Skip the sandwich and have a cookie - it'll make you feel better!

I don't know whether the Brooke Shields photo is "art" or "porn" or neither, but the fact that she does not want it to be shown ought to be enough to put the matter to rest.

Yeah, you'd think Woody Allen of all people would keep his mouth shut, but then, he never thought he'd done anything wrong. Ick Nast.

In fairness, not ALL of Hollywood artists are on the Polanski bandwagon--just a vocal few and the rest are simply keeping their heads down and their mouths shut as rocking boats can lead to unemployment. And Steve Lopez (the columnist depicted in "The Soloist") wrote a SCATHING front+page 2 piece about the situation and his dumba$$ defenders this morning. See this:

Hi, cat! Thanks for the LAT link. Got to read your local fish-wrap last week, noticed lots more show-biz reportage and ads than in the East (duh!). Sure wish the area had had some natural A/C (alias fog) though, because triple-digit temps can really enervate folks unaccustomed.
