Celebritology 2.0: October 4, 2009 - October 10, 2009

Comment Box: The Last Word on Letterman?

David Letterman in a screengrab from Monday night's 'Late Show.' (AP) A civilized debate took place during Thursday's Celebritology Live discussion about whether or not David Letterman's admitted affair with staffer Stephanie Burkitt constitutes any kind of sexual harassment. One on side, lots of readers wrote in to protest that Dave had committed any transgression worse than being an adult carrying on a relationship with another consenting adult. But others, including a healthy portion of Celebritology's surprisingly large community of lawyers, said we're missing the point, agreeing with Gloria Allred and NOW president Terry O'Neill, both of whom are calling for CBS to take action against David Letterman for creating a hostile work environment: "Why don't people get it that when Letterman sleeps with SOME staffers, it's the women he DIDN'T sleep with who got shafted (pun intended.) Did they get the same raises? Law school tuition? Extra favors?...

Unfortunately for Beyonce Knowles, she just couldn't leave well enough alone. Over the weekend she finally commented on September's Kanye West VMA incident. Doubtless, you recall the diss heard 'round the world: (If you can't view the video above, you may be missing out on your 1,342,232nd viewing of West's storming of the stage to interrupt Taylor Swift's Best Female Video award speech to protest that Beyonce should have won.) Speaking to Oprah lackey Gayle King backstage at the Billboard Awards, Beyonce downplayed West's bad behavior, excusing him in the name of "art": "Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award.' When they didn't call my name, he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, 'No, no, no!' and then he...

Lilo's Latest Fashion Flop

Lindsay Lohan (right) and designer Estrella Arch walk the runway after the debut of the Ungaro collection. (Getty Images) This weekend, Lindsay Lohan made her runway debut at Paris Fashion Week with Ungaro's spring/summer/hell freezes over 2010 collection. And, as chroniclers of Lilo's fashion career will know, this is only the latest in a string of Lohan's attempts to spread her hooker Barbie aesthetic. Lohan's first foray into the fashion world was in 2008 with her line of 6126 Leggings. Designs included leggings with convenient built-in kneepads. She recently starred -- along with a stripper pole -- in a new ad campaign for this year's offerings.
