But, wait, where were we? For that matter, when were we? If you haven't spent the last eight months immersing yourself in show lore, we'll find it in our hearts to forgive you. In fact, we'll even rescue you with a weekend crash course designed to get you caught up and ready to hit the ground -- or island -- running by Tuesday. Gallery -- Where we left off: From Jack to Jin to Juliet (and all of the non-J-named characters, too), start by perusing this pictorial review that explains where the main players ended up at the close of season five. Kelis, fashion forward or flop?

Kelis arrives at Thursday's first annual Data Awards presented by Black Eyed Pea will.i.am. in Los Angeles. (Getty Images) Although a huge fashion fan, I'm not much of a risk taker when it comes to my own garb. I do appreciate a calculated gamble on the outre as much as the next girl, but Kelis -- she of the better "Milkshake" who recently divorced longtime beau baby daddy Nas -- has taken her long-percolating penchant for the fashion fringe to the extreme. I'm not even sure what she's going for here -- costume shop explosion meets farmyard chic? The Statue of Liberty-esque spikes in the hair, the six-foot long mangy braid casually tossed over one shoulder, the pink jumpsuit, the tux top and -- at the teetering base of this hodge-podge -- a pair of heels apparently designed for stripper pigs... It all adds up to blech. Girl, time...

For Susan Sarandon, a spanking good time

I'd like to apologize now for leaving this image in your head for the rest of the day, but don't blame me. Blame Susan Sarandon -- who may be taking her newly single/liberation thing a little too far. We learned of Sarandon's split from long-time partner Tim Robbins back in December and, hell yes, a girl's got a right to go a little wild and hang out in ping-pong bars and whatnot. But earlier this week, the 63-year-old Oscar winner turned up on stage at a New York show by band Of Montreal and proceeded to get a little surreal. Okay, a lot surreal. The action starts at around 00:40: For those of you who can't watch, Sarandon appears on stage dressed as a school marm and proceeds to bend a grown man dressed as a pig over her knee and spank him with a ruler. Then, after a nod...

In celebrities we trust?

Which one of these men is trustworthy? Top: James Earl Jones, bottom: Tiger Woods. (AP) Forbes this week released a list of the top 10 most trusted celebrities. Whatever that means. I mean, do I want these people to keep a secret or babysit? Or am I just trusting them to be consistently entertaining? The answer, it turns out, is a bit blander. The magazine surveyed 1,000 lucky Americans and asked them which celebs they would rate tops for "trustworthiness, awareness and appeal." Ask a boring question, get a boring answer, right? So it's no surprise that the list was populated by a completely predictable huddle of the exceedingly snoozeworthy: 1. James Earl Jones 2. Tom Hanks 3. Michael J. Fox 4. Mike Rowe 5. Morgan Freeman 6. Sally Field 7. Ron Howard 8. Will Smith 9. Bill Cosby 10. Denzel Washington Kudos to Sally Field for apparently being...

Brad and Angelina and the split that wasn't

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (then pregnant with twins Knox and Vivienne) at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. (AP) Maybe it was the timing -- after weeks of supposed leaks about Angie's hatred of New Orleans, Brad's bid to get Angie psychiatric help and a dearth of joint public appearances -- but by Saturday afternoon when Britain's News of the World posted a story detailing a supposed Brangelina split, we were primed to believe it. So unlike the scads of rumored break-up stories that have bubbled to the surface over the past five years only to fall flat before rising above the level of basement bloggers, this time the story took off as if powered by turbo jets. Saturday night, both "Brad Pitt" and "Angelina Jolie" were trending topics on Twitter and guys like Roger Ebert -- you know, people who we consider to be somewhat above the gossip...
