Madonna vs. Kim Kardashian: Battle of the iPhone apps

This week, both Kim Kardashian and Madonna found yet another way to invade our lives -- via their own branded iPhone apps. Lest you think this a revolutionary idea, know that trailblazer Britney Spears picked up on the mobile angle months ago, launching her own app back in November 2009. Lots of other celebs -- Diddy, Lil' Wayne, T-Pain and even Pope Benedict XVI -- have their own dedicated apps, too, with more on the way. In the spirit of cluttering up my own iPhone so you don't have to, I test drove both the Madge and Kim K. apps this morning. Below, a quick comparison: (Courtesy Mobile Roadie) Catchy name? Madonna (Sure, it's quick and to the point.) Price: free User Rating: 4 stars and Mobile Roadie CEO Michael Schneider says the Madge app is "our fastest growing app of all time, adding many thousands of users per day."...

Fergie's robotic transformation

Fergie-bot. (AP) What's that? You've long suspected Fergie of springing whole cloth from some top secret record company generic pop singer robot lab? Well, after Wednesday's Black Eyed Peas appearance at New York's Madison Square Garden there can be no doubt. Fergie Ferg seems to be the latest pop diva to show every outward sign of some kind of robot metamorphosis. And it isn't just the elaborate costume screen printed with futuristic images of gears and rivets and other techie looking stuff. It's the vacant, vaguely Stepford-ian stare. One can almost imagine laser beams shooting from her empty eyes, instantly sapping the few remaining brain cells left to Black Eyed Peas concertgoers. I'm not sure what's going on in the music industry -- that's more the domain of Click Track -- but perhaps building an army of robot women is some kind of last ditch attempt at salvaging plummeting...

'Lost' Dueling Analysis: 'Lighthouse'

In which Jen and Liz -- who have no doubt their fate is to over-analyze the best sci-fi drama on TV -- dissect the minutiae of season six's fourth episode and do so without the assistance of any helpful dead people to serve as a guide. Read the analysis, add your comments, then join in the 2 p.m. ET "Lost" Hour chat. Oh, and in the meantime, visit "Lost" Central to complete the immersion. -- Hurley (Jorge Garcia, left) convinces Jack (Matthew Fox) to join him in a little jungle stroll. (ABC) Liz: So Ben Linus and John Locke wasted all this time hoping they were special when it turns out that all along the special one is -- at least per tonight's episode and Jacob -- Jack Shephard. Not that surprising, considering the hints we had that season six would largely mirror (mirror!) season one. The show's first...

Lindsay Lohan comes clean about drug use

Lindsay Lohan at her July 2009 Vegas birthday/tanning lotion promotion fest. (Getty Images) Sorry, Barbara Walters. Important one-time child star turned Hollywood poison Lindsay Lohan has come clean about her past substance abuse problems in U.K. tabloid The Sun. It's been a busy year for Lohan -- a split from girlfriend Samantha Ronson, a universally panned debut as an Ungaro fashion consultant and a steady stream of Twitter musings. Still, she found time to open up about her never-quite-confirmed affinity for recreational drugs in one of Britain's trashier tabloids. And, surprise, she's blaming dad Michael Lohan, for talking to the press about her starting in 2007: "When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems. People need to know that." Except, estranged papa Lohan says, Lilo was already at rock bottom when he...

Celebrity fashion inspiration gets techie

"Who are you wearing?" Oscar-watchers are familiar with that question and the idea of celebs as walking advertisements -- the biggest names are covered head to foot in gowns, jewelry and shoes donated by designers anxious to ride Oscar buzz to higher sales. But now some savvy e-commerce types have worked out a way to make money even from a celeb's every day wardrobe choices. On Sunday, the New York Times explored the new, lucrative business of selling celebrity looks online. For those of you who aren't regular visitors to hardcore celeb-scoop blogs like Celebitchy, Just Jared or INF Daily -- the sites, which post a high volume of paparazzi-snapped star pics -- feature ads directly on pix of several stars that take interested readers to online shopping sites where one can buy either the item the star is wearing or a reasonably facsimile. Shopt for Jolie's glasses -- neve...
