"Tila Tequila deletes her Twitter page." Yeah, I noticed @PatheticFameWh*re wasn't on my follow list anymore...

"Michael Lohan headed to Haiti." Looks like maybe that all-star line-up should have recorded "Mike Lohan, Sit The F*ck Down" for Haiti relief.

"Rip Torn headed to rehab after bank break-in." Good idea: bank robberies go much more smoothly if the guy with the gun is sober.

"Taylor Swift drops, breaks Grammy." Proving that there are things other than tunes that she cannot carry.

The Rip Torn story is heartbreaking. The guy had lost his license after DUIs, so he walked from his house to the closest bar. He got so drunk (blew a .20, nearly 3 times over the legal limit) that he thought he was going back to his house. (The bank looks like a two story colonial house.) In the bargain, he has a loaded .22 pistol on his person. He's such a wonderful actor that, at 78, he should just be basking in the accolades for a lifetime of work. Instead, he's so far down the road with alcohol that reports said he was incoherent the next day.

Brangelina annoyed at last year's Oscar "nostril cam."

Had to look it up: a small camera "planted on the floor underneath them, looking up." Ick. Nast. I don't blame anyone who'd mind.

Rip Torn headed to rehab after bank break-in.

On a serious (I was going to say sober, but reconsidered) note, elder alcoholism is a surprisingly serious issue, especially for those grappling with depression. Add to this that his wife, actress Geraldine Page, died 22 years ago.

Trivia bonus: Who's Torn's Oscar-winning younger cousin?

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor share a kiss at movie promo event.

I wonder if they were vaccinated first. Oh wait...

Sarah Palin magazine hits newsstands and convenience stores

Oprah, Martha Stewart, Rosie, Rachael Ray... I wonder if Sarah PAC will buy up copies to distribute to her supporters, as they did with her "best-selling" book.

jhpurdy, I concur.

Tila Tequila deletes her Twitter page... How long does it take for someone to go just away?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could assign volunteer duties in Haiti? (in my best Sargent Carter bark..) Lohan! We all know you're full of s--t You're digging latrines today! Hupt two, three, four,...

Hey Angie, gift suggestion for Brad this Valentine's day...the Ronco personal nose-hair groomer!

Diddy or diddn'hy?

Taylor breaks her Grammy reminds me of my teenager breaking his newly replaced cell phone just days after he received it.

I love Jorge Garcia.

hodie, we all love Jorge Garcia, how could ya not love the big teddy bear?!?

I'm gonna miss the back & forth between Hurley & Sawyer.

Re 10 films nominated for best-movie Oscar: The winner could (theoretically) garner just one vote over 10%? Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Send some love to the Cornelia Marie today. Not only is Cap'n Phil recovering from a stroke, but the father of deckhand, Jake Anderson has been missing for a couple of weeks. They found his truck near a remote logging trail. Jake's sister died from a longterm illness last year.

Solution to "nostril cam" in three parts:
- arrive right before the show starts

- wear pants on the red carpet

- change inside into something more interesting.

I wouldn't worry too much about Michael Lohan going to Haiti.

"Lohan and Major were set to travel to the poverty-stricken country last month but say the situation had been so bad that they were advised not to go."

“'We still plan to go,' Major told RadarOnline.com. 'We’re just going to go when they feel it’s safer.'"

See, "they" (who are they, anyway?) will NEVER feel it is safe because Haiti wasn't safe BEFORE the earthquake. So Michael can keep talking about it, thinking that it changes his reputation, but I think he'll never actually go.

Tila Tequila, Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator? Since none of us doubt that she'll be back...

Michael Lohan headed to Haiti - way to make John Travolta's Scientology gurus look useful, Mike.

A camera imbedded in the floor at the Oscars? It could have been so much worse: think what that camera would have picked up at the Grammys.

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor do make a cute couple, but Ewan looks more into it than Jim.

Hrm. That much worse than 5 films, with the winner theoretically garnering just one vote over 20%? Neither of them seem like ringing endorsements to me when put that way.

I'm rooting for the Hurt Locker for Best Picture. Great war flick produced on a reasonable budget.

mdreader, young Jake is a deck hand on the Northwestern....and this probably indicates that Ms Snatchquatch and I watch Deadliest Catch far too much.

there's something seemingly genuine about taylor... perhaps it's simply well rehearsed - but she has 'charming' down. There does seem to be some real 'omfg' in that shot lol.

Re: Hurley & Sawyer.... Made me think of a "Lost" spin-off idea.... Hurley and Sawyer travel around the country in an old VW Vanagon... Something like Raizing Arizona meets Kung Fu.

I'd probably watch that.

Take THIS, Jenny McCarthy!

Report linking autism to vaccines is retracted by medical journal: The Lancet issues a retraction on the 12-year-old paper by Dr. Andrew Wakefield, which had said the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine causes autism. The report led to a sharp drop in vaccination rates.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-sci-wakefield3-2010feb03,0,38071.story

Posted by: Nosy_Parker | February 2, 2010 2:37 PM | Report abuse

Nosy, I heard about that. Turns out the physician who reported the study was also providing expert testimony for a plaintiff who was sueing a vaccine manufacturer for a child who had autism and didn't disclose the conflict of interest. It is even suggested he fabricated the results entirely for the plaintiffs. Just think of all the children who were harmed by NOT getting their vaccines! I hope Jenny does the right thing and admits her mistakes.

Posted by: hodie | February 2, 2010 2:55 PM | Report abuse

hodie, what do you think fell through the cracks that caused The Lancet to have published Wakefield's article in the first place? Isn't that a peer-reviewed journal?

Posted by: Nosy_Parker | February 2, 2010 3:17 PM | Report abuse

Nosy, the doctor did not disclose his conflicts of interest (which is required). There would not have been a way for the Lancet to know that this doctor working as a paid expert otherwise.
