Who are Jen and Liz anyway?

Liz Kelly Accredited Celebritologist Liz monitors the ups, downs and in-betweens of the stars. She is uniquely qualified to write this blog because of her alarming interest in celebrities and pop culture -- and because Sandra Bullock, Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty attended her high school (not at the same time, but still...) --- (Bill O'Leary for The Washington Post) Jen Chaney Also an accredited Celebritologist, Jen focuses on pop culture news and trends in the entertainment world. In addition to overseeing movie content for the Post's Web site, she also writes regularly about film, DVDs and stars of screens large and small. When she isn't blogging or at the movies, she's... um... probably at home, watching a movie....

The Oscar love curse: Is Sandra Bullock the latest victim or is it total bunk?

Kate Winslet (left) and Sandra Bullock -- the Oscar love curse's latest victims? (Getty Images/Reuters) Murmur has it that Sandra Bullock is the latest victim of the best actress Oscar curse. (And yes, that's despite the fact that Thursday's bombshell rumor about husband Jesse James's infidelitous affair with a buxom, tattooed model hasn't been officially confirmed.) What's the best actress curse? It's the well-tread theory that when a woman wins an Academy Award for her stellar leading performance, that same woman should expect to split from her significant other sometime shortly after they return from the Vanity Fair after-party. And when we say well-tread, we really aren't kidding; every media outlet and Web site imaginable has glommed onto the Oscar curse story during the past 24 hours. Including this one. And this one. Oh, and this one, which features the following commentary from HollywoodLife.com (and former Us Weekly) editor...

Karl Lagerfeld on the superiority of high-class escorts and sunglasses

As an avid reader of Karl Lagerfeld's fake-ish* Twitter feed, I was all a-flutter when I came across this ridiculously long Q&A with Lagerfeld (thanks Gawker).

In honor of March Madness, cinematic basketball silliness

In less than a couple of hours, the Madness begins. And by that I mean the NCAA Tournament, a celebration of college hoops, bracket busters and (alleged) lowered productivity in offices throughout this great nation. If you haven't yet, there's still time to enter the Post's own Bracket Challenge. (Need help making those last-minute picks? See which teams a few celebrities have selected, or compare your choices to those made by some Post personalities, including this Celebritologist.) And for those who are desperate for something to occupy these last precious moments before we all get sucked into the buzzer-beater vortex, I offer this look at five utterly ridiculous moments in basketball-movie history. Zac Efron: No. 1 in your hearts, but not a No. 1 seed on your NCAA brackets. (Disney) There are plenty of fine films about the sport; "Hoop Dreams," "White Men Can't Jump" and -- despite its absolutely...

Irish celebrities to party with on St. Patrick's Day

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we bring you this guest post from Sarah Anne Hughes, intern and Young Celebritologist -- you know, sort of like the Young Indiana Jones -- who writes about the famous people she'd like to hang out with on this greenest of green days. Having turned 21 last September, today marks my first opportunity to officially celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. And by officially, I mean, an evening’s worth of beer-drinking, pub-crawling, blarney-stone-kissing shenanigans. Which got me to thinking: who among the rich-and-famous set would make the best companion as I venture into the realm of St. Patty’s revelry? Here are the five notable Emerald Isle-related celebrities that -- with a little luck of the Irish -- I would be thrilled to stand beside while celebrating this St. Patrick’s Day. Would you spend St. Patrick's Day with this man? Because we totally would. (Peter Kramer/AP) Colin...

'Lost' Dueling Analysis: 'Recon'

In which Jen and Liz appreciate the fact that a Sawyer-centric episode is good, but a Sawyer-centric episode that actually advances the show's central story line is better.

The 'Lost' Five: Points to ponder ahead of 'Recon'

For Sawyer, the "Recon" is on. (ABC) As we prepare for tonight's Sawyer-centric (and consequently, possibly sexy-centric) episode of "Lost" -- title: "Recon" -- a song keeps buzzing through my brain. That song? "Who's Zoomin' Who?" by Aretha Franklin. And no, it's not just because I accidentally flipped by one of those adult contemporary radio stations that delivers "the best mix of the '80s, '90s and today!" "Who's zoomin' who?" is another way of asking, "Who's got the upper hand?" Or: "Who's conning who?" And I suspect that's a question that will be raised more than once during the seventh episode/eighth hour of the final "Lost" season. Some things to ponder before 9 p.m. EST rolls around......

'Beyonce is the devil': Fun with Google search suggestions

Over at Buzzfeed, contributor Matt Stopera hit upon the novel idea of typing in celebrity names followed by the word "is." The results are nothing short of, spit-out-your-lunch, cramp inducing hilarity.

Amanda Seyfried, starlet in need of a (better) publicist

Amanda Seyfried may be one of Hollywood's fresh faces (as per March's Vanity Fair), but she's also in serious danger of jeopardizing her career with her off-screen, off-the-cuff comments.

Breaking down the weekend box office, all about 'Alice' edition

One weird-looking queen to rule the box office. (Disney via AP) The freakish, Bobble-headed Red Queen continued her reign over the box office this weekend, with Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" holding onto its place as the No. 1 movie in America. Some notable nuggets to consider after parsing this summary of which flicks ranked on the top 10 money-makers list: Box office? Your booty is a 'Wonderland': "Alice in Wonderland" added another $62 million to its North American box office total, which, as the Associated Press points out, amounts to almost as much revenue as the money generated by the other nine flicks in the top 10 combined. Yes, it's important to note that "Alice" is playing in 3D and 3D Imax in many locations, which means that ticket prices are often jacked up accordingly. Still, even with higher admission costs factored in, movie attendance is up 6.7...
