Oscars 2010: Live tweeting the Independent Spirit Awards

By Liz Kelly

Jen Chaney continues her mad barrage of Oscar weekend coverage at tonight's Independent Spirit Awards, where she'll hit the red carpet, the ceremony and -- if she's still breathing and awake -- the after-party. Jen kicks off the tweeting around 7:30 p.m. ET.

Update: A transcript of last night's tweet fest follows. -- 7:32 a.m. ET, Saturday, March 6

Girlfriend has to file early tomorrow a.m. So she's heading back to the hotel ... to amputate her feet.

The after-party is at Nokia Live -- two levels of space where my feet can hurt.

I am at the Spirits after party ... And the Dj is playing Africa by Toto.

And the winner is Precious. Speech, random closer by Eddie Izzard then after party.

And here is Ben Stiller, killing in a sarcastic presentation of best pic, with, um, porn stars behind him.

Lee Daniels wins best director for Precious.

Why I love Jeff Bridges; he just said his Spirit Award will "really tie the room together." The Dude still lives!

Winner is Jeff Bridges.

Ryan Reynolds and Maggie Gyllenhall just led toast to indie cinema, now presenting lead actor.

Lead actress goes to Gabourey Sidibe. She is getting a partial standing O.

Foreign language film, presented by (yes) David Spade to An Education.

Yay! Anvil just won best documentary.

OK people are mostly sitting here or going to the bathroom. But it's still awesome.

Dave Grohl is introing Anvil and namechecked Springfield, Va. And now the place is rocking to Metal on Metal.

Up next: Anvil live!

500 Days of Summer just won screenplay, to some yays from the back of the room.

Carey Mulligan and Ethan Hawke presenting Best Screenplay.

A Serious Man just won the Altman Award for best ensemble.

Humpday just won the Cassavetes Award for a film made for less than 500 K. #Spirits

A Serious Man just won for cinematography.

Surprise: Mariah Carey is wearing a slinky black dress.

Monique is about to win best supporting actress ... and it just happened. #Spirits

Now Bridges and co. are on stage and sounding fine.

Fletcher just broke down thanking his dad. Everyone is getting emotional tonight.

Precious and Geoffrey Fletcher just won best first screenplay.

Scott Cooper just broke down while trying to thank his wife. Very sweet.

For dinner: salmon over rice, which has grown cold while I was on the red carpet. Still tasty though.

Supporting male winner ... Woody Harrelson.

"Tonight is about love and envy," says host Eddie Izzard.

After covering the red carpet I just got to walk it to get into the awards. No photos were taken.

A gaggle of media females are screaming at Colin Firth.

Olivia Wilde, a D.C. native, looks pretty stunning in Ralph Lauren. #Spirits

Matt Dillon? Hasn't aged a day. #Spirits

Just talked to Nick Hornby, who is on his second Jameson.

Everyone I talk to is rooting for Hurt Locker on Sunday. #Spirits

This is like some sort of open market for publicists where producers and stars are being peddled to the pres.

Just chatted w/ John Waters; overhrd him say the next big thing is 3D adult entertainment. #Spirits

Johnny Weir in the house. #Spirits

http://twitpic.com/16u54s - Taraji doing the vacuum routine.

Henson's routine is some LG promo. Still waiting 4 that action ... or any action.

Apparently Taraji Henson will be vacuuming the carpet soon. No joke.

At the Spirits, surrounded by press and much wind.
