No longer in the dark re: celebrity sunglass trends
I know what you're thinking. The summer is almost upon us and you've had practically no direction on sunglasses. Gone are the days when one could reliably mimic Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's bug-eyed shades (though they do have their own line) or get away with following Kanye West down the road to '80s inspired UV-protection nirvana. Instead, we're left to wander a vast wilderness where every Brad, Clive and Demi sport a maddening array of Balenciagas, Chanels, Diors, Donna Karans... the list goes on.
Luckily, nature abhors a vacuum. Two sites -- Celebrity Sunglass Finder and SunglassesID.com (tagline: "Serious about celebrity sunglasses") have sprung up to track celeb sunglass trends and, of course, make it easy to cop Kourtney Kardashian's reality show glam with the click of a mouse and the flash of a credit card.
Earlier this week, I spoke with SunglassesID.com founder Remmert van Braam (a Dutchman who also runs the intriguing JamesBondLifestyle.com) about his site and this summer's celeb sunglass trends.
Which celebs are the most sunglass style savvy?
Lady Gaga is the ultimate sunglasses queen. She can wear every pair and make it look good. In her latest video with Beyonce she wears a wide array of shades, including a pair consisting of burning cigarettes. I have to add more of Gaga's shades on my site, but her ever-changing collection is hard to keep up with. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also have an incredible influence on consumers in eyewear fashion. Their popularity is still immense and the fact that they have a large collection of interesting sunglasses makes them the perfect trendsetters.
(Note: Make your own Gaga cigarette glasses!)
What about movies? Any recent releases that caused a flurry among the sunglass conscious?
"The Hangover" and "The Blind Side" have been very popular in the last few months.
Any hot celeb sunglass trends we should know about right now?
Especially for female celebrities: bigger is better. Large round or "butterfly" shaped shades are hot. For the guys, classic shades like Wayfarer, aviator or 1980s Carrera styles are still the most popular.

Lady Gag is definitely a style-icon when it comes to sunglasses. "Ultimate sunglass queen", she is. http://www.ranker.com/list/lady-gaga-fashion-all-lady-gaga-outfits/lady-gaga-outfits
