Breathe easy, dear reader, this isn't about Lindsay Lohan. "Samantha Who?" star Christina Applegate and her musician fiance are expecting their first child, according to her rep. Now isn't that a nice change of pace?

The past few years haven’t been easy for Applegate. She divorced “That Thing You Do” actor Jonathan Schaech in 2007 and was diagnosed with breast cancer the next year. She underwent a double mastectomy.

But! In April of this year she got engaged to Lenoble -- the person she credits with helping her overcome cancer -- and, if you're still not sure what this post is about, is now expecting a baby. All's well that ends well, right?

While I don't want to condone the idea that baby equals happiness, it does warm my heart to see a celebrity, especially one who has had a rough go of things, find some happiness. Other examples? Halle Berry immediately comes to mind. After two divorces, one that included allegations that ex-husband Eric Benet cheated, she met model Gabriel Aubry and had perhaps the cutest baby alive with him. The two split in April, but now Berry will always have her extremely adorable child, Nahla. Troubled celebutante Nicole Richie comes to mind as well. After battling an eating disorder, drugs and the law, the "Simple Life" star began a relationship with Joel Madden, had two babies with funky names and now seems to have her life together. Can you think of others? Share in the comments section.

Until this AMs announcement that she was considering reuniting with that slimeball Jesse James, I would put Sandy Bullock in that category.

Jen, you forgot to mention, among Applegate's tribulations, the death of her erstwhile boyfriend Lee Grivas. I wish her nothing but joy, good health and smooth sailing.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner seem to have done well since forming a partnership and produced first, baby Violet, and the second one (Charles? I just can't remember.).

Serafina Rose. You were close, though....? :)

The other Christina - Aguilera - seems to have a pretty stable life with her hubby and baby, as do Gwen Stafani and Gavin Rossdale.

Yay for Christina! It's wonderful to hear positive news on the page for a change. (Not your fault, most of the celeb news isn't happy.)

Johnny Depp seems to have been a wild child who settled down in a hurry once he found Vanessa Paradis and procreated.

Sheryl Crow.

Emma Thompson was dumped rather humiliatingly (is that a word?) and publicly by a cheating Kenneth Branagh. She is now married to hunky Greg Wise (Mr. Willoughby in Sense & Sensability) and has a daughter.

Colin Farrel went from being near the top of the list of celebrities one wouldn't be totally surprised to hear had OD'd or drunkenly wrapped himself around a tree to a sober daddy.

Obviously Cher comes to mind.. only cute little baby girls grow up to become big fat ugly dudes. But getting to dance on Sonny's grave--priceless.

Applegate was always way cool, and her current situation something I'm glad to hear about. I could'nt care less about all the nonsense of stars' coming and goings, but I hope she stays around a long while.

(but it seems there's an unalterable karma thing that comes into play.. one can pray about that too...)
