Audio of Mel Gibson's racist rant has leaked online

By Jen Chaney

Another update: As Deadline Hollywood reported late yesterday, Mel Gibson's agency, WME Entertainment, has dropped him as a client. -- Updated July 10 at 5:09 EST

It was only a matter of time.

Radar Online has posted the audio recording of Mel Gibson yelling at ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. In the recording, as rumors had suggested, he harshly criticizes her for dressing provocatively, uses racial slurs and spews numerous profanities.

Obviously there is a lack of context around this particular conversation. But even so, this certainly does not look, or sound, good for Gibson.

People magazine reports that Gibson plans to prove to detectives that Grigorieva is attempting to extort money from him, using the release of the recording as a threat. All of this comes in the wake of confirmation that the L.A. Sheriff's Office is investigating Gibson on charges that he assaulted Grigorieva.

Update: You can hear the audio -- and again, keep in mind the language is harsh -- here:

What a clearly uneducated person. How unattractive. Ew.

Racism is very subtle. After reading the Oops People of Color Live There, I am no longer surprised about the actions of most Americans anymore. There is a lot of racism among Whites and all People of Color in America, it seems to be the American way.

Mel Gibson is wealthy enough that he doesn't need to really care about what people think of him.It has been obvious for quite some time that he holds views which make him "unpopular. Probably his comments about Jews will hurt him the most. He has long been self destructive but his money is not equal to the sort of treatment that his anti Jewish views will get him. He will probably be charged with assault and his trial will become a public spectacle.

Just your typical "Passion of the Christ" spouting hater of Jews and Blacks.

Apparently Mel Gibson in real life matches the male characters in movies of Mel Gibson the actor. He - and the characters in his movies, both heroes and villians - apparently match the personality of abusers of women. Seems like a nice guy at first, but with time (in movies and real life) shows a tendency to uncontrolled outbursts of rage.

The man is an alcoholic and to try and use his drunken ravings to claim that all Christians are biased and racist is just as biased and racist as his comments.

By the way, other famous people, people of color (i.e. Jesse Jackson) have been heard to let loose with hateful talk. Should we assume from that that all people of color are prejudiced?

Mel Gibson should be happy with his money and retire. As for hooking up with "sweet young things" he should know that when you play, you pay...especially for gold digging younger women. I thought he was smarter than that but now i know which head his brain is in.

After watching this guys Hamlet performance years ago, I always wondered why he was popular at all. His acting is superficial and shallow and vastly over-rated. That it turns out that that is what Gibson is as a real person comes as no surprise, of course; but what is a surprise, even astounding, is the guy is clearly over the top bigoted ... and a coward, a bully, a bigmouth, a queer-basher, and a holocaust denier to boot. And soon perhaps a criminal.

Wow, maybe his alter ego just comes out from time to time?

townsend_j et al., I seem to recall a profile of Mel years ago recounting back when he was considering becoming an actor, one of his fears was that the profession was perceived as too gay, and that acting might hurt his hetero reputation. When he did "Hamlet," I wonder if he took to heart the line, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks"?

i have carefully studied the controversial photo of these two. Indeed, Mel has a point, her dress is a bit tight. But then his jacket seems too tight as well, even if the main intention was to show off that beautiful yellow tie.

I am not in Mel Gibsons social circle so I cannot comment on who or what he is; However, his statement which targets a specific racial group reveals that, at minimum, some form of bigoted socialization. When an individual chooses to adversely target a specific group in any form without provocation from that group that action suggest some form of bigotry and begs to question: why he chose that ethnic group. His choice suggest that he, at minimum. views the majority of that group in a negative light; But, that said, his actions further reveals the underlying racist American foundation. UNFORTUNATELY, RACISM IS A CRIPPLING FUNDAMENTAL AMERICAN TRUTH.
