Lindsay Lohan goes to jail

Lindsay Lohan has turned herself in at a Beverly Hills court house to serve her prison sentence. She remained calm throughout the proceedings, where she was ordered to begin her sentence of 90 days for violating probation on previous DUI and related convictions. TMZ and other media outlets have reported she will likely serve no more than 23 days.

Judge Marsha Revel prohibited photography of Lohan being taken into custody. She will serve her sentence at the Lynwood Correctional Facility, the same lock-up where Paris Hilton did time in 2007 for a probation violation.

Famed attorney Robert Shapiro stepped down as Lohan's lawyer yesterday for unknown reasons. Shawn Chapman Holley returned as Lohan's lawyer after resigning from the case earlier this month.

It's sad to see the problems this beautiful, talented, young woman ha,s had. Jail might not be pleasant, but perhaps it will give her a wake up call and, at least, keep her away from the bottle for awhile. It just goes to show you, having money, fame, and good looks are not all they are cracked up to be.

I would have to serve the whole 180- Days- period! She is NO better than any other U.S. Citizen, except she's a celebrity $richy. - But then $Money TALKS,- just like in CONGRESS! - So most likely Lohan will serve 60 lousy days, then go to a posh 'good-time' pampered Rehab. - $$$$$

Anyone else find it funny she will serve more time than Gilbert Arenas?

Finally! That menace will be off the streets and behind bars where she belongs.

Ninety-days is a light sentence given all of the events and facts. Anyone else (read “not a celebrity”) would be looking at six-months in a county jail. As evidenced by the treatment Hilton, Lohan and their ilk there are two vehicle codes, two penal codes, two health & safety codes, etc; one for the wealthy and one for everyone else.

The threat of jail is far too often that – a threat. When a sentence is imposed it’s short, pampered and secluded from the general population while non-celebrities are tossed in the mix to fend for themselves. Even the fines are a joke to these people. A $5,000 fine is pocket change to them while financially devastating to the average person.

It’s time for these judges before whom these arrogant, spoiled celebrities appear to come down hard on them. Stiff jail sentences among the general population and draconian fines are long overdue. Until the gavel comes down load and hard these celebrities will continue to view themselves as above the law and the little people.

"Justice is Blind"? In what country? Not the USA. She serving only 23 days of a 90 day judgment because of jail overcrowding. You have got to be kidding? Another example of the justice system in America; if you are Black, get back; if you are white, that's alright!!!!

This spoiled brat needs to get over herself. She got jail time to bring a dose of reality to her rotten little life. Whether she does 23 days or 90 days, if she doesn't figure this out now, she'll be back.

LiLo goes to jail -- BFD. Why is the media making such a big deal of what will no doubt amount to a joke, a la Paris Hilton's and Nicole Richie's "jail time"?

Plus, it's just feeding the monster. LiLo obviously craves attention and publicity, and this is just giving her more of what has sent her on a spiral of self-destruction.

Well, What can I say, the spoiled alcoholic gay/bi-sexual bimbo, or what ever she is brat will spend some well deserved time behind bars… She thought because she was rich and sexy the judge was going to be easy on her or that she would get away with it, well sorry Lindsey neither your money nor your looks are going to help you this time. And remember you’re not “OJ Simpson” … And the law even finally caught up with him. So remember Lindsey “Nothing changes if nothing changes! Maybe you should start dating men again, besides that girl Sam looks like one anyway!!! Funny, I keep reading about “How smart Lindsey is” Well why don’t you start acting like it… I bet them guards are going to have a good time checking her into jail, especially the strip search, lol

Listening to a National Public Radio program yesterday on U.S. soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, one guy mentioned that it is a sad commentary on our society that a rich celebrity with a drug addiction and behavioral problems gets more news coverage than those who are killed in the war. Read the report on our national security system and skip this mindless nonsense.

Who cares?
Now can we get to something important to read?

Good luck Lindsay. You should like this experience.

Bye bye, dum dum, at least for a spell. Hope you get the full 90 days. Unfortunately, thanks to our $19 billion state budget deficit, you probably won't. But thanks for parlaying your C-list celebrity status into a taxpayer burden just the same. Kudos.

Poor girl can't do anything right. She shows up to face the music, and people are harshin' on her for being rich. and beautiful. and a celebrity. and bi.

COOLCHILLY is a paid endorser. The Republican Party pays unemployed losers who are too lazy to get a real job $1 per post to go into forums and post anti-Democrat and anti-Obama tirades, even in subject matter. When you see a rant like this which is obviously unrelated to the article, spread the news. Don't get duped by Republican online bush tactics.

Shouldn't this story be on the back page somewhere stuffed between the obits and the classified ads for used cars? This story only proves that gender equality is a big, freaking, pathetic, political, gender biased, sham.

Not really, because she was given the benefit of the doubt several times. Then on top of that snubbed he nose that the law. She's getting what she deserves. All she had to do was attend 12 1 hour long addiction meetings and just couldn't do it. Now she'll server her time followed by rehab....This makes her one of the dumbe$t people out there…..

Posted by: askgees | July 20, 2010 2:14 PM | Report abuse

I bet many people were killed and women raped today in Congo, but let's be honest: A pretty blonde famous girl is going to jail for three weeks just HAS to be among the top 3 news items in the Washington Post.

Did Lindsay have to go directly to jail, or could she pass GO and earn $200 on the way there?

Posted by: angelos_peter | July 20, 2010 4:31 PM | Report abuse

Lindsay Lohan has surrendered to authorities and has begun her 90 day jail sentence.
Lohan showed no emotion as she was led away.
Stunned when she was sentenced by a judge, this is the day Lindsay wanted to avoid.
A short stint in rehab before this did not get her out of jail.
There was not get out of jail free card this time for Lindsay Lohan.

Who's your Daddy now, Lindsay???

Posted by: angelos_peter | July 21, 2010 12:26 AM | Report abuse

For non violent offenses often the jail time is reduced or they get probation. Haven't you all read the stories in the Post about everyday, regular people around here who get jacked for DUI and get a walk? Usually we're reading about them because after getting a pass time and time again, they hurt or kill someone and THEN the criminal justice system locks them up. The most recent case was the commercial driver in DC who hit and killed a bicyclist after numerous accidents AND being deported for some other offense. That guy is still driving. A few years ago when an Alexandria (I think) school official got a DUI and people wrote to say that she shouldn't be fired because "everyone has driven after a few drinks".

Not to defend Lilo, but she's far from the only person who gets chance after chance and blows them. The problem is that the justice system, and many ordinary people, don't think that drinking and driving is that big a deal. When the 'everybody does it' mindset goes away (if it ever does) then letting drunks out to drive again won't be a problem.
