Report: Bristol Palin joins cast of 'Dancing With the Stars'

By Sarah Anne Hughes

Bristol Palin, seen here on the set of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," will reportedly return to the small screen. (Randy Holmes/ABCFamily)

Posted by Sarah Anne Hughes

E! Online is reporting that Bristol Palin will be on this season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." The 19-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin will reportedly dance alongside reality stars Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino of "Jersey Shore" and Audrina Patridge of "The Hills" as well as David Hasselhoff. A rep for ABC would not comment about the casting, saying, "The real 'Dancing With the Stars' cast will be revealed Monday, Aug. 30, live on ABC during 'Bachelor Pad.' "

Palin was seen this year on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." She and baby daddy Levi Johnston ended their second engagement earlier this summer.

While Palin's appearance on "Secret Life" made some sense -- it's a show about teenage pregnancy, after all -- "Dancing With the Stars" seems like a weird choice for the daughter of a well-known politician (especially one getting paid $14 thousand to make speeches.)

Would you watch Palin on "Dancing"? Let us know in the comments section and in the poll.

Just like her mother - not a brain in her head but marginal eye-candy so she is working with what she has (which is not much). She now proudly enters that growing group of losers who are famous for being famous with no accomplishments of their own.

The American people have only ourselves to blame - as long as we keep lapping this kind of slop up, the media will keep dishing it out.

Hopefully her 15 minutes of fame won't last as long as her brain-dead mother's.

"Dancing" has nothing to lose and everything to gain...For Palin any attention is good attention...the feuding with Levi and here she is getting $14 thou. per speech..how's that for a 17yr old single mom??????

Of course her mother being known helped...this girl has no known job skills yet can get thismuch for a speech....Some college grads are green with envy...

Hate to spoil the mood but if this were a black girl and her mother was a senator, she would never even be offered those opportunities...just a thought.....

These are all great posts. It makes you wonder just how out of touch TV programming executives are. Who the hell cares about Bristol Palin and the rest of her disfunctional family? They aren't benefiting society in any way. They are enhancing the image of the trailer trash culture that is becoming America. They really have no redeeming values. They are riding the ignorance and gullibility of the American public for all its worth all the way to the bank before their balloon bursts and they are relegated to total obscurity and anonynimity.

Funny, but I think the "dumbing down" of our society has more to do with the Zionist media than it does with the Palins, like them or not. And besides, if you're so "above the fray" on this one, then why did you even take the time to read the article, much less post a comment about it?

I thought that the issue with Ms. Palin was that she wanted privacy from the media for her and her child, so they could get on with their lives. Continuing to talk to the press, doing interviews with "entertainment/celebrity" magazines such as PEOPLE, and now "dancing" on television doesn't seem to be the way to regain your privacy.

I don't watch the show to begin with so it's not an issue to me, but if Ms. Palin wants to be a "celebrity", so be it. That's between her and the people who are interested in her actions and activities. But it sure seems to be going against the grain of wanting a normal life.

Dancing has turned into the kind of show that you watch if you're the type that like to see people humiliate themselves. Another poster here pointed to Tom Delay -- a great example. I think the Palins will do and say just about anything for a dollar.

Oh snap! Then again, DWTS has already had Kate Gosselin and one of the Kartra$hian things, demonstrating that possession of a traveled v@gin@ is qualification enough for the show (by which standard Bristol qualifies).

Posted by: Nosy_Parker | August 26, 2010 3:51 PM | Report abuse

Show title needs to be updated and called " Dancing with the knuckleheads on their last two minutes of fame" .

I watched DWTS for the first time last season, and aside from the dances not being to the proper music, kind of got a kick out of it. I would watch this season for the Hoff, but he's getting outweighed by Audrina, The Situation and Bristol. I don't want to see any of them do anything.

Prediction: Since Palin women don't practice birth control (a least not consistently), Bristol gets knocked up again, if she isn't already thanks to that fleeting re-engagement. Then she bows out of the show because one of the following:

Her OB/GYN orders total bed-rest owing to "pregnancy complications."

She miscarries while being flipped around on the dance-floor by her professional partner, thus inventing a new form of pregnancy termination (since her mother's effort to lose her latest one failed, despite flying home from Houston to Anchorage after her water broke instead of heading to a world-class hospital in Houston, then riding out to Wasilla General (or whatever it's called) instead of going directly to an Anchorage hospital.

Has there ever been more of a non-star parasite on DWTS than Bristol Palin? Truly. Girl should go to college, get some education so she can escape her trashy upbringing and give herself and her baby a better life.

Liberals must be so upset with Bristol. I mean, Bristol does what liberals encourage: she became pregnant as a teenager. Then, out of nowhere: Bristol decides not to kill her baby with her constitutional right to abortion. Geesh! After decades of encouraging teenagers to engage in permarital sex, offering them an out to their pregancy by killing the baby, Bristol only goes half-way.

What a great addition to this show! I am definitely watching and voting. Count me in for Team Palin! Why? Because I admire someone who acknowledges they messed up and takes responsibility for their own actions. Bristol is doing what she can to make a better life for her child and herself. I love what her parents stand for--thank God Sarah Palin takes a stand no matter what! Sarah is a solid down to earth person who happens to have held public office--how refreshing! I'll get a chance to vote for Bristol in 2010 and hope I get to vote for another Palin in 2012.

Where does Bristol Palin possibly fit into that picture?

Posted by: lonquest | August 26, 2010 4:41 PM | Report abuse

JeffPA: Bristol was not encouraged by liberals to have sex at 16. For God's sake, get a grip. She was not DIScouraged by her parents, who also were with child when they married.
All wehear from the Palins is "leave us alone," "We are just a normal cleancut American family with good values who go to church and live by the Constitution and the Bible. You betcha." Then Mama is shooting off her mouth constantly about things that are not her business, daughter gets a job and a condo, and says she plans to go to college. Then she reengages with Levi, then calls it off, as if she didn't know he had a zipper problem. But still, she begs to be allowed to raise her precious child.
Well, the chestnut sure falls close to the tree. She's busy jetting around the country giving speeches, as if at 19 she is so wise, and has something important to say. Next she'll spend 8 weeks in Hollywood dancing 12 hours a day. Great. And just who will be raising her precious child? Not Grandma, not Bristol, not Levi...
And I bet Sarah is peeved that they didn't ask HER to perform. This family needs to go home and pretend they're normal millionaires. We don't care!

You are kidding right? How has Bristol taken responsibility? By leaving her child to go make speeches instead of going to work and college? By quitting the one job she had to move back home? By agreeing to do this time-intensive show in CA so she can spend more time away from her child? If she were truly interested in providing for her child, she would be in school, getting a degree so that she can get a good job in a few years. When her celebrity wears thin, what is she going to have? A school age child and no degree. I hope she plans to invest this cash that Republicans are so eager to toss at this ridiculous family.
And Sarah? If she ever deigns to face a real journalist instead of someone also on the Saudi prince's payroll, and answer a question that she hasn't pre-screened, and stop posturing on FACEBOOK where she cannot be called to account, she MIGHT gain some credibility. Until then, she is just a sniper for the Republican Party, and they will drop her like a hot potato if she decides to run for anything.

Not a fan of the Palins but can hardly blame Bristol Palin, Levi Johnston, the Salahis and other publicity hounds from grabbing the brass ring offered by reality show producers. The fact the creators of thses shows can foist this swill on an audience eager to slurp it down is the sad part of the story. If you can get paid to be on these silly shows why not? They persist because there is a market for this brand of entertainment. If you don't like it don't watch. I don't so it doesn't really bother me who is on or why.

To liberals the highest achievement that a woman can attain is being an unwed mother. Yet they feel the need to malign Bristol because her mother is Sarah Palin, the woman who has single-handedly upset their apple cart.

But Virgil, there is a lower ring of Hell, should we descend?

I bet John Waters could do a great film on the Palin family. Sort of an updated Pink Flamingos.

The poll should have included the option for "Oh, for the love of God, no!"

Plus, exactly how far into the dregs must DWTS descend before the network realizes it's over? Or do the producers think they're merely building the ramp over which they will someday jump the shark?

More likely? More likely to boycott the show, which should really be renamed "Dancing With The People Who Will Do Anything to Extend Their Fifteen Minutes of Fame."

Since when does being an unwed teenage mother and the daughter of a lunatic who couldn't even finish one term as governor of Alaska make you a "star"?

This is sad. There are so many legit TV, sports, and movie personalities that would kill to be on DWTS, and we're going to have to see her AND "The Situation" in the SAME season? They are quickly approaching the dorsal fin of that shark.

The one positive note is Audrina Patridge. I can fast forward through the rest thanks to the guy who invented TIVO and DVRs. ;-)
