Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki of 'Big Bang Theory': Secret lovers?

By Jen Chaney

Kaley Cuoco has admitted that she and Johnny Galecki -- who play hot-girl-meets-geek lovers on "The Big Bang Theory" -- secretly dated for two years.

In an interview with CBS Watch magazine, she opens up about the relationship, which she says the two committed to keeping under wraps.

"It was a wonderful relationship but we never spoke a word about it and never went anywhere together," she tells the network publication. "We were so protective of ourselves and the show and didn’t want anything to ruin that. But that also made it sad, too. That’s not the kind of relationship I want -- I don’t want to be hiding. We couldn’t do anything. It wasn’t as fun as we wanted it to be. Everyone was always asking, and we deny-deny-denied."

Cuoco implies that other people connected with the show preferred that the two not share their real-life romantic feelings -- "certain people didn’t want to do it that way," she says. She and Galecki broke up "before the holidays," so nearly a year ago -- ironically, in the midst of "Theory's" third season, when their characters, Penny and Leonard, were finally embarking on a relationship. By season three's end, though, Penny and Leonard had broken up and Cuoco and Galecki had adjusted to life as co-workers and good friends. "I’m so lucky it was a mutual ending and that we don’t hate each other," Cuoco says.

"Big Bang" fans, how do you feel about this news? Is it less, more or equally shocking as Penny and Leonard falling in love on the show?

When was that interview? Sort of odd that it does not include anything about how is she doing given that recently she was hospitalized after breaking her leg in a horse accident and they extended the show's hiatus.

I love the show. I love both their characters. It's cool that they managed to still be friends after. Sad they couldn't explore the relationship in a normal manner. Perhaps they would have ended up in a better relationship.

Oh please Liz! Usually your cynicism antennae are raised a bit higher than this. Everyone knows that Galecki is gay as the day is long. "We are confessing ... an illicit romance ... that nobody knew about ... that ended years ago... " It stinks of publicist placement bearding.
