Katy Perry vs. Nicole Richie: Battle of the bachelorette parties

By pure, delicious celebrity coincidence, Katy Perry, soon-to-be bride of the randy Russell Brand, and Nicole Richie, fiancee of Joel Madden, reportedly engaged last weekend in that most sacred pre-wedding tradition: the bachelorette party.

A few details of each lady's festivities have leaked to the media, providing enough intel for a quick comparison.

So which wife-in-waiting managed to throw the wilder bash? Throw on that fake veil and suck-for-a-buck T-shirt and let's find out.

Nicole Richie's Bachelorette Party

Luxury party location: A resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Celebrity friends in attendance: Christina Aguilera and Samantha Ronson

Notable celebrity absence (as far as we know): Richie's former "Simple Life" co-star, Paris HIlton. Granted, she's been kinda preoccupied ...

Level of secrecy: Somewhat high since media reports initially made the festivities sound like a birthday celebration for Richie.

Was daytime lounging involved? Of course! People magazine reports that Richie and her pals reportedly did some sunning by the pool at Las Ventanas resort, and also got mani-pedis.

Bachelorette wear and accouterments: According to the New Zealand-based Web site stuff.co.nz, Richie at one point donned a robe that said "'Tickle Your Chi Chis With Miss Richie" on the front and "Nicole's Bachelorette" on the back, along with the date of the event: 9/17/10. She also reportedly wore a sash labeled "bride-to-be."

Choice of drink: Margaritas ... at least during dinner, according to People.

Katy Perry's Bachelorette Party

Luxury party location: Vegas, baby, Vegas!

Celebrity friends in attendance: Rihanna and cast members from Cirque de Soleil's "Ka."

Notable celebrity absence (as far as we know): Snoop Doog, co-star of Perry's "California Gurls" video. Granted, he's a guy. But surely Perry would have been fine if he had shown up, sipping on gin and juice.

Level of secrecy: Low. Perry reportedly was in numerous public places all over Vegas -- including the MGM Grand and various nightclubs -- wearing a veil.

Was poolside lounging involved? Of course! People magazine -- apparently the best source on pool activity during bachelorette parties -- reports that Perry and co. sipped on champagne, beer and vodka while hanging out at the Hard Rock Hotel Beach Club's VIP cabana.

Bachelorette wear/accouterments: Perry kept a veil tucked into her bikini bottom while at the Hard Rock, Billboard notes; the group also was accompanied by what People describes as "inflatable objects consistent with bachelorette parties." (So, like, they mean balloons, right?) London's Mirror also says that Perry was given "rude-shaped cakes," just to take the sauciness up a few notches.

After the shenanigans at the pool, Perry and her entourage traveled via Hummer limo to the MGM Grand to check out the Cirque de Soleil show "Ka." At a strip club the girls visited afterward, Perry also traded moves with some female dancers. (Would you expect anything less from the pop singer behind this?)

Choice of drink: In addition to the vodka, champagne and beer consumed during the afternoon, Perry reportedly sipped on vodka of the Grey Goose variety while visiting XS nightclub. Even before the night got underway, Perry had already tweeted: "Signing up for a liver transplant now..."

Our Winner?

Obviously this is based solely on the information gathered here. But between the Felliniesque Cirque de Soleil freaks, inflatable objects female strippers and recognition of the potential for liver failure, Katy Perry clearly takes the (rude-shaped) cake for wildest weekend bachelorette party.

Inflatable objects? You mean Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian were there, sorta?
