Lindsay Lohan released from jail: updated

By Jen Chaney

Lindsay Lohan is now in custody after appearing in court for violating her probation again in a 2007 DUI case, this time for failing a court-mandated drug test. The Associated Press reports that Judge Elden Fox denied her bail and did not hear arguments from lawyers on either side of the case before immediately having Lohan taken into custody; she was removed from the Beverly Hills, Calif., courtroom in handcuffs.

Lohan admitted via Twitter that she failed a drug test, thanking fans for their support. "This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."

Update: People magazine reports that Lohan will remain in prison until Oct. 22 -- the date of her next court hearing -- because she is being held by court order.

"She will be held in the same conditions as her last stay, in a keep-away unit," L.A. Sheriff's Office spokesman Steve Whitmore told the magazine.

Lohan already served 14 days of a 90-day jail sentence and 23 days in rehab.

Update #2: After a second judge's ruling and $300,000 in bail, Lohan has been released from jail.

In breaking news, LiLo has been released from jail after serving 5 minutes of her 30 day sentence.

LiLo thought the last judge was mean. At least that one listened to arguments before jailing her. Of course, publicly admitting you violated probation does not leave a of room for argument.

Maybe LiLo can find a manicurist in jail to help her style her nails with the message she wants to send during her next court appearance. LiLo might have more luck if it's an apology, though.

LiLo's much more prepared to go to jail this time: instead of a swear word written on her hand, she's got a recipe for toilet gin.

I am starting to wonder how much worse this woman's disfunction can get…This story is creeeeepy--just to see the havoc drugs and alcohol bring. There is a show called "Issues" that is going to have a special discussing new details of this case. They have new developments. Issues is on tonight.

Who is the foolish rehab counsellor who said he/she released Lohan because she didn't exhibit the usual signs of addiction? Why is this counsellor not mentioned? Why is this counsellor still working at the rehab?

"Why is this counsellor still working at the rehab?"

It's because in most states, people generally don't get canned just because some a-wipe on the internet thinks they should.

Damn right I'm cranky today.
Bite me.

Did they throw away the keys this time?

Are they prepping a cell for Ms. Hilton?

One can only hope.

Sounds like she needs jail to keep away whoever hooked her up last time.

Here's a high five for the judge! Now if we just keep the LA sheriff office from finding some reason to release LiLo before her 30 days are up like her cell was too dirty, she was getting too pale, etc.

I'm taking odds she won't spend two weeks in jail.

I agree with Jimoff1913. The family money will reach someone and wham she's out, or some fool in the system will decide she's cured and her supplier can once again put lots of cash in his/her pocket. The whole thing stinks.

Hope she rots there.

One queen-size serving of skank.

On the up side, maybe she'll OD and disappear.

Well people if you check my post from yesterday you will see that I was wrong. I said the LA sheriff would release her but in fact another judge released her. Apparently violating the conditions of your parole doesn't mean you go to jail. Go figure.

The California court system will issue a formal apology to her for daring to hold her responsible for anything she does. You read it here first!

Jimof1913, LiLo bought her way out of jail for $300K bail, so it looks as though money both talks AND walks.
