Mackenzie Foy may join 'Breaking Dawn'; Sally Menke, editor for Quentin Tarantino, dies suddenly

By Jen Chaney

Three pop culture-related stories on our radar this afternoon:

1. More "Breaking Dawn" casting news: First we learned that Maggie Grace has signed on to play Irina in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn." Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Mackenzie Foy may be cast as Renesmee, the product of the most heralded romantic union of our time, the one between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Foy, 9, is a newcomer, but you may recognize her from TV appearances on "Flash Forward" and "'Til Death," or random tribute videos on YouTube like the one above. [Entertainment Weekly]

2. A sad passing: Sally Menke, Quentin Tarantino's longtime editor, reportedly died Monday while hiking with her dog near L.A.'s Griffith Park, the L.A. Times reports. Menke went missing Monday after heading out for that hike and was discovered early Tuesday morning by a search party. The 56-year-old worked on every one of Tarantino's films, including "Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction," both "Kill Bills" and "Inglourious Basterds." A cause of death has not been determined. [L.A. Times]

3. Potential inductees: Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and the Beastie Boys are among the artists nominated for induction in the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The final list of inductees will be announced in December. And all I can say is: Bon Jovi made the short list, but Duran Duran still hasn't? [Associated Press]

Bonus link: Hogwarts gets the Internet, confirming that Hermione Granger does indeed nag Harry on his Facebook wall.

How sad. Apparently Sally Menke's dog was sitting next to her body when they were found.

I would love to have my dog at my side when my time comes.

As for Duran Duran.....[rolls eyes]......Jen, isn't it time you outgrew your crush on 80s hair bands?
