'The Oprah Winfrey Show' and its many faces

An excited Oprah fan. (Screengrab from Faces of the Last Season of Oprah blog)
The final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" began yesterday in, you know, the same way that most of us kicked off our last year of high school: everybody got a trip to Australia!
Naturally, that big announcement from Ms. Winfrey elicited lots of gushing, screaming and general mega-freaking-out from the crowd. It also prompted Oprah to repeat the word Australia so emphatically, so many times, I honestly feared she might be having an asthma attack.
Of course, this will likely be only one of many emotionally overcharged moments on the final "Oprah" season. A new Tumblr blog -- entitled Faces of the Last Season of Oprah -- is determined to capture every eye-bugging, tear-flowing, jaw-slackened image along the way. Check it out and see the gems they've already managed to preserve just from day one. It's like a flipbook of Oprah fans in various stages of a conniption fit.
And if you want to see an actual conniption fit in action, here's the video of Oprah's Australia reveal:

A headline with the words "many faces" and "Oprah" ... nah, too easy.

Really can't improve on byoolin's comment on the Mix re Australia as penal colony (simmer down, Steadman, I said PENAL).
All I got is the faint hope that five minutes after The Giant O arrives, there will be a total and indefinite ban on flights out of Australia to the U.S.

This could be a llooonnngg season.
Do people sit in the audience because they like Oprah, or because they think they might get something for free? If it's because they like her, I just don't get it.
