'The Tourist': Johnny Depp, meet Angelina Jolie

By Jen Chaney

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp have never appeared in a movie together. That all changes with "The Tourist," the spy thriller/romance in which Jolie seduces Depp, but for reasons that are not based purely on physical attraction.

The trailer is now circulating online and provides our first glimpse of what director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck has described as "incredible chemistry" between the two stars.

It's a bit difficult to assess that chemistry in the trailer, though; many of the scenes feature close-ups of an impossibly sultry Jolie, or Depp seeming confused and/or panic-stricken. Still, the notion of Edward Scissorhands and Lara Croft, together at last, is pretty intriguing. Take a look and share your reaction to this cinematic pairing -- to be seen in December on the big screen -- in our comments section.

The trailer sold me on this film, in part because Paul Bettany appears to have a great role! That's some good acting potential in this film.

C'mon Jen. There's really a director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck?

Uh oh. Vanessa Paradis, I hope you have you and your kids' bags packed, and some sort of prenup (whatever unmarried long-term partners might have). Especially since man-eater Jolie was quoted long ago as saying Johnny Depp was one of the men she would love to sleep with, and recently that she doesn't believe in monogamy. She was laying the groundwork, wasn't she? And I'm sure given her history he's all the more attractive because he has a partner. Her talons can never resist that ...

reddragon, it gets better. The full name is:

Florian Maria Georg Christian, Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck directed the highly regarded "The Lives of Others" a few years back. He's quite a skillful director and exceptionally tall.

Angeline and Johnny are REAL movie stars, folks. Not Snooki or Justin. Get away form the tabliods "California 11" These are professional actors. And while they both make for sensational sexual fantasies they're too busy in real life to behave that way. Johnny and Vanessa havetwo kids and Brangelina a de facto nation-state.

ROFLMAO, cllr ... clearly you have not been paying attention to Angelina for the last, oh, decade. Read up on her disreputable history -- and her child-collecting is simply part of the neurosis.

My one-word reaction to the trailer: meh

I don't see any chemistry between the two. Johnny Depp looks petrified! He seen what happened to Brad Pitt! In fact Johnny Depp looks horrible, poor guy it must of that hard on him having to make a movie with that evil woman!

I'm curious to see what two actors with their sex appeal can do together on the screen. Maybe they'll cancel each other out?

I should've said, "Meh, too."

Angelina Jolie in Venice. I'm there.

Jolie. Depp. Venice. Paris. Haute couture. I'm so there.

Romance & intrigue like Charade - with Depp playing the Audrey Hepburn character and Jolie playing Cary Grant.
