Tom Bosley of 'Happy Days' fame has died
First June Cleaver. Now this.
Tom Bosley, who played the always understanding, perpetually frisky Howard Cunningham on TV's "Happy Days," has died at the age of 83. According to TMZ, Bosley had lung cancer.
But above all else, Bosley was always Mr. C, father of Richie and Joanie, advisor to Fonzie and husband of his beloved Marion. Who wouldn't want a father like Mr. Cunningham, the kind of guy who was always there for his children? The kind of guy who even supported Richie when he got blasted and brought home a dancing girl from a bachelor party.
(Video after the jump...)
The kind of guy who would take his kid to a Grand Poobah convention.
The kind of guy who never stopped getting frisky with his wife.
Sure, his and Marion's treatment of their son Chuck was questionable, given his mysterious disappearance and all. But overall, Howard Cunningham was as good as it gets, the sort of father that every man could only hope to be.
And Bosley? He, too, was a class act, as his co-stars have attested. Both Henry Winkler and Scott Baio have already paid tribute to Bosley; undoubtedly more statements from the "Happy Days" cast will be forthcoming.
"Tom Bosley was our mentor. He was a true artist ... a great husband, and a fabulous father and grandfather," Winkler told TMZ. "He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten."
