'Cowboys & Aliens' trailer hits the Web: Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and ETs; What's not to like?

By Liz Kelly

Harrison Ford's performance in "Cowboys & Aliens" may just redeem him for some or all of these things: a) Starring opposite Diane Keaton in "Morning Glory," b) dissing Han Solo, and/or c) His over-affected appearance on Tuesday night's "Conan."

A trailer was released online Wednesday and, among other things, the clip makes it abundantly clear that the movie is not an inter-galactic take on "Brokeback Mountain." Instead, a smoking Daniel Craig (who out-hots Ryan Reynolds even on his bad hair days) plays a cowboy who was abducted by aliens and returns to earth apparently having forgotten he's an outlaw. Harrison Ford comes into the picture as the law. And, if this thing is going where the trailer leads, the outlaw and, umm, inlaw join forces to battle aliens. Think of it as "High Noon" meets "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

"The footage shown at Comic-Con promised whiz-bang special effects," says our own Jen Chaney, who saw an extended clip at Comic-Con back in July. "And director Jon Favreau swore off 3-D for this release, which makes the potential that much higher for this to be a throwback to the golden era of Spielbergian blockbusters."

Spielberg, it should be noted is indeed an executive producer.

After this, why, God, is Harrison Ford contemplating another Indiana Jones?
