Monkey see, monkey do?

On Sunday, Jessica Simpson announced her engagement Eric Johnson, just two weeks after Simpson ex Nick Lachey popped the question to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

Simpson and Lachey were reality TV pioneers. Their MTV show "Newlyweds" chronicled their often dippy home life on MTV from 2003 to 2005. The two divorced in 2005, after just three seasons.

Simpson, 30, met Johnson -- a vegan former NFL player last May. Five months later, according to Us Weekly, his divorce from an estranged wife was final and Simpson began tweeting treacly messages about her new love.

The pair has yet to announce a wedding date.

When a couple measures the length of their marriage in television seasons, it's not the gays that are making a mockery of the institution.

1) That is NOT Jessica Simpson in your picture, nor is it Eric Johnson. A two-second trip to Google Images would help.
2)This engagement comes even less than two weeks after Nick's. He announced his on Nov 4th, Jessica's was announced Nov 14th.

"The two divorced in 2005, after just three seasons" may just be one of the best celebrity snark lines of 2010. Bless you, Liz Kelly.

Before I saw the text of the story, I thought this was about Eric Johnson the famous guitar player. Eric the guitarist is probably a little old for her, anyway. :)
