Report: Death threats target Bristol Palin and 'DWTS' partner Mark Ballas

By Liz Kelly

Bristol Palin and her "Dancing With the Stars" partner Mark Ballas have received death threats, or so "sources connected with the show" tell TMZ.

The sources claim that the threats began last week when Palin made the finals in the celebrity dance-off. Security will be heightened tonight, when Bristol goes toe-to-toe with remaining celebs Jennifer Grey (our pick from Day One) and Kyle Massey.

Thus far, Palin has inspired one Wisconsin man to shoot his television, an anonymous prankster to send threatening fan mail filled with white powder and scads of watchers to attribute her success to a vast right-wing conspiracy.

The Post's Lisa de Moraes will be online Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET to discuss the "DWTS" finale.

Pity Mark Ballas.

really? honestly it's a dance popularity contest. I kind of feel sorry for Bristol. I think her mom is going for popularity by proxy & whipping up her supporters who seem to be confused about what constitutes quality dancing....

(although - really, Jennifer Grey - she is a dancer & has good "dance genes" in her via her father. no competition really.)

The pro dancers need to quit the show ASAP, just to protect their future employability. They need to sue the dork who set up the whole 'vote for Bristol' cheating scam just to "irritate Democrats", and Sarah Palin who is doing her part to encourage the cheating.

After the first show this season I stopped watching DWTS because it provided a political platform for Sarah Palin. DWTS was supposed to be a contest among great dancers--not political caricatures. I will NEVER WATCH DWTS AGAIN. It is insulting and degrading to both the contestants and the audience.

Death threats? Wow. It's a dancing show. A stupid, insignificant dancing show. It's entertainment, it's not determining the future of our country. That said, Jennifer Gray, although the best dancer, is IMO is snotty/haughty. I'm totally voting for Kyle.

@Guest1234:
You haven't even seen it yet!

Apparently none of you grasp the concept of voting for the ones that dance the best on the day.

So much for tolerance. It's a dance/entertainment show! The media is fueling the fire with way too many articles on this subject.

Hey! I am a progressive. That said I abhor death threats to a child of a politician. This has gone too far! They have nothing to do with their parents choices, politics! Same as the first lady. She was not elected. She and her kids should be left alone! Those that make ugly comments are tactless, crude human beings. Sarah Palin better remember that. Leave the families alone!

Poor Bristol.

She tried hard, lost a lot of weight, but just didn't match up to the rest.

Even Kyle was a lot better, and he started off faster.

The problem with Momma Palin pulling strings to get her a trophy is that everyone will know Bristol was not a real winner.

And that will go with her for the rest of her life.

I just do not understand how anyone could feel this strongly about Bristol Palin.
I did not vote for her mother but....HATE her daughter??? That is crazy. What has this 19 year old girl done to deserve anyones hatred?
Hitler doesnt get this kind of response and he murdered 6 million people.

So far as I know Bristol Palin's only crime is getting a little further along in a dance contest(if dancing is what is being measured here) than her dancing skills warranted.
We should probably all climb a tower with high powered rifles and hope she or someone who looks like her dances by with medicrity.....morons.
BFD.

Death threats against Bristol? Why none for Sarah? LOL

In all seriousness, it is just entertainment, but people get wrapped up in this reality TV garbage too much. Then, you have the political sideshow in Sarah Palin (everybody knows the only reason Bristol Palin is on the show is because of her mom's name recognition - she's not really a "star", unless she and Levi made a porno, somewhere). Anyhoo, I haven't even watched the show, but I've heard over and over again from all over the place that Bristol is an awful dancer compared to everybody else, but she keeps being brought back.

I can understand anger about that; there's a sense of no justice/lack of fairness, kind of like what happens with many of these other reality shows where people get voted off like American Idol.

Death threats, though? Go figure. I think that's more hatred for her mother, which is warranted (the hatred, not the death threats). Her mother's a hateful person; an willfully ignorant and unintellectual person according to her own words and actions, the past few years. Bristol shouldn't be punished for that.

I mean, c'mon, with a name like Bristol, and Sarah for a r-tard mom, hasn't she been punished enough? She shacked up with a dumbass named Levi and named her kid Tripp, for God's sakes. She's been through enough.

Sarah Palin invited Bristol's disastrous foray into"stardom". In her book, Sarah denigrates the "talentless wannabees" of American Idol, but somehow sees untalented Bristol as deserving of the designation of "star". Hell has no fury like a duped America!

It is incredulous that the loony right whines about how liberal Americans would feel if Chelsea Clinton, Amy Carter, or the Obama girls suffered the ridicule Bristol is receiving on DWTS. Of course this would never happen. These families have dignity, intelligence, and class, unknown in the world of Palin, and would never allow their children to be sacrificed on the altar of a seedy TV show for a hefty weekly check and political exposure.

The dishonest voting practices of Bristol's supporters resulted in fine dancers leaving the show prematurely. Bristol, I am not a hater; I am a realist-you do not deserve to win.

These death threats were probably to garner more votes for Bristol. They were likely started by the same people who already vote for her. Too much conspiracy and just plain crap about how all democrats are liberals. The word liberal only has bad connotations from the "conservatives". These over blown "Christians" give church congregations a bad name. Let's all jump to conclusions and assume the worst about those we don't identify with.

I just don't get why people are apparently so threatened by Sarah Palin that they have to attack her daughter. Give Bristol credit; I'd like to see 99% of America do a tenth of the dance moves she's managed to not only get through, but pretty well. Everyone's a critic. Sheesh. Leave the girl alone.

I don't watch DWTS. Does that make me unpatriotic? However, I would watch if there was a decent chance I'd get a look at Bristol Palin's hoo-hah.

This is not an Olympic event! ...it is commercial TV where audience is the criteria, not the skills of the dancers.

How do you measure the audience? By the number of calls received from the viewers.
That is what the advertising dollars are based upon - it is about measured viewership. That is why ABC created the program.

Put into that perspective, and you will understand the popularity of Bristol, the daughter of Sarah Palin.
Who's family has the most public influence in the country today?

Isn't Bristol a spokesperson for young girls to be careful in sex?
Are there any of the other contestants that are a positive influence in any of our societial issues?

The question is...who do you want to win? That is who American's are voting for.

Posted by: gwaits1 | November 23, 2010 11:07 AM | Report abuse

I have serious doubt about the death threats. I had doubts that Bristol had a large following. She had a rabid following who felt that cheating to win was OK.

Now this unwed mother can go back home. Hopefully she will stay there.
