Rumor Mill: Miley Cyrus's mom had an affair with Bret Michaels

Rut-roh.

Remember last week when we were all shocked (okay, hyperbole) by the abrupt end to the 17-year marriage of Miley Cyrus's parents, Billy Ray and Tish? It turns out that the split may have been caused by an achy-breaky heart after all.

According to UsMagazine.com, Tish and rocker Bret Michaels (yes, the one with the brain hemorrhage and sketchy Billboard cover) were involved in an "on-the-sly romance" that began in February when Michaels and Cyrus released the duet "Nothing to Lose."

A rep for Michaels rebutted the allegations, telling Us Weekly, "There has never been an affair or a fling." A rep for Tish also denied the dalliance.

Still, to timeline this potentially cataclysmic affair:

February -- Tish Cyrus and Bret Michaels commence their "on-the-sly romance."

April -- Michaels suffers achy-breaky brain (a.k.a. brain hemorrhage).

May -- Miley opts out of going to college and releases the first of her new I'm-all-grown-up-and-sexually-predatory videos. At the same time, VH1 airs the first episode of Michaels's new reality show, "Life As I Know It," about his close-knit home life with daughters Raine and Jorja and girlfriend Kristi Gibson.

October -- Billy Ray Cyrus files for divorce.

Yeah, bit of a reach here folks.

On the other hand, if true, that woman has zero, zip, zilch taste in men. I mean seriously, she married Billy Ray then allegedly cheated with Bret Michaels. Ick.

I know the Washington Post has been on a downhill slide--journalisticly--for decades, but with this blog, your research has reached the level of one of those fly-by-night gossip blogs outsourced to India. Take for example Miley Cyrus' well planned transition from Disney tween queen to sensual late-teen vixen: it started in mid-2009 with her "Party in the USA" video, and her movie, "The Last Song", also shoot in mid-2009, not with her "Can't Be Tamed" video in May. Her new, contemporary image is a business decision designed to save her from the fate of most child stars, that is, oblivion. The ratings for Hannah Montana records and the TV show have been declining each year, which is to be expected since tween fads are well known to last about 18 months. Hannah Montana is in its fifth year, on its forth season. If Miley hadn't re-invented herself as a more contemporary and attractive late-teen actor/singer-songwriter, her career would already be in the dumpster. It's not about a lapse in morals or a trainwreck, it's about doing what she needs to do to save her career. Miley Cyrus is not headed for a Britney or Hillary style breakdown. Unlike Britney and Hillary at 17-years old, Miley is not doing drugs and alcohol, she's not been in trouble with the law, and dressing in daisy dukes when your a hot 17-year old is not a crime, it's the norm.

"For decades," Chris? One would hope the publishers give you some kind of medal for continuing to stick with 'em for so long.

I'm personally waiting for Chris's presentation of his paper "Decline of Blogger Journalism and Cultural Paradigm Shift in the Post-Britney Spears Era" at the annual Overcoats and Park Benches Convention. Paul Reubens is also scheduled to give the keynote about advances in popcorn bucket design.

I would be extremely disappointed in Liz if she spent more than a couple of minutes researching this story or if she EVER wrote a line using the phrase "well-planned transition from Disney tween queen to sensual late-teen vixen."

No news here, folks. If Miley had an affair with Bret Michaels, now THAT would be news.

Excellent snark, MStreet!

Bret Michaels is somewhat hotter than Billy Ray has-been, one-hit wonder. Thank goodness Cyrus finally lost that mullet! Now if we oculd just get Bret to give up on that longhaired look he still sports . . . the woman has NO taste in men, IMHO!

What irks me most about Michaels is his self-serving "Rock of Love" series, but now he's promoting his close-knit home life with his daughters and girlfriend. puh-leeze, if he were committed to his family life, he never would have done "Rock" . . . THREE times, yet to boot. He just wanted to have a last fling while he was still attractive enough to make it with the young, mostly brainless, overly implanted women. What a bunch of losers.
