"Lost," in mammoth book form. (DK Press) Here's the second in our 12 Days of Celebritology Giftology series, a dozen posts designed to help you cross the celebrity- and pop-culture-obsessed pals off your holiday gift-giving lists. Think of these posts as our gift to you. We're just that generous. Today's mission: Satisfy the "Lost" lover in your life. (Hey, give us some credit. We waited an entire day into this series before we suggested any "Lost"-related gift options.) Your Sawyer-deprived friends and/or relatives already have the tricked-out "Lost" Season 6 Blu-ray box set. They already own every other season of the dearly departed Dharma drama on DVD. They even managed to score a couple of precious items during the "Lost" auction. So what's left to give them for the holidays? Given the plethora of "Lost" merchandise out there, plenty. Here are a few specific recommendations....

Report: Miley Cyrus smokes weed from a bong, but it's not marijuana

Video of teen diva Miley Cyrus celebrating her birthday with a bong has surfaced online: But, sources tell TMZ, the 18-year-old popstress was not smoking marijuana. Instead, she was inhaling salvia, a natural herb that is legal in California and has supposed hallucinogenic effects. Says a giggly Cyrus on the video, which was reportedly shot by a pal and "stolen" from the camera, "I'm having kind of a bad trip." Then she points off camera to someone she swears looks just like her off-again/on-again boyfriend, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. We're guessing it wasn't dad Billy Ray Cyrus. Source: TMZ...

Friday list: Most random retro holiday specials

Grandma ... look out! (Time Warner via Christmas Specials Wiki) In last week's Friday List, Liz asked readers to rank their favorite holiday fare from most favorite to least, touching on all the usual sugarplum-related suspects. (For the record, the original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" are currently leading the pack.) Today's Friday List will take us in a different yuletide direction. Instead of examining the classics, this rundown pays tribute to the holiday specials so random that time has (nearly) forgotten them. So join me on this magical journey through the craptastic Christmas fare of yesteryear, proof that for every "Grinch," there is a "Claymation Christmas Celebration" and for every "Charlie Brown Christmas" there is a "Christmas Comes to Pac-Land." (And don't forget to chime in with your own random holiday favorites by posting a comment.)...

Bill O'Reilly grills Barbara Walters about Oprah lesbian question

As it turns out, the most fascinating person of the week may be Barbara Walters. Well, let's be realistic and call her "the most fascinating person of the past 24 hours who happened to have two splashy interview specials air on ABC Thursday night and has been dive-bombing other talk shows to promote the heck out of them." First, in an appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor," O'Reilly -- or "Billy," as Babs calls him -- registered his dismay with Walters's insistence on asking Oprah Winfrey if she is a lesbian. Oprah's answer, which we included in yesterday's Morning Mix? No. The exchange is worth watching, though, if only to soak up the irony of O'Reilly intimating that Walters is not a real journalist: O'Reilly went on to ask Walters if she'd inquired about Sarah Palin's sexuality and grill Babs on why it is that the cast of "Jersey Shore" (or,...

Barbara Walters names her most fascinating person of 2010. And it's not Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga in a meat dress: not fascinating enough for Barbara Walters. (AP) As of last week, it seemed obvious that Lady Gaga would be named Barbara Walters's most fascinating person of 2010. She hadn't already been mentioned among the eight previously released names on Walters's list. Given all the media attention surrounding her this year, she seemed like a lock. So it was surprising last night when Walters announced this year's winner and it turned out to be......

Celebritology Giftology Day 1: Celebrity memoirs

Today we kick off a series of posts -- 12 Days of Celebritology Giftology -- written to help you cross the celebrity and pop-culture obsessed pals off your holiday gift-giving lists. Think of these posts as our gift to you. We're just that generous. Memoirist Jay-Z. (Reuters) Today's mission: Find the perfect gift for the reader on your list. Below, three picks that should satisfy super-fans. Highbrow: Jay-Z's "Decoded" This collection of essays from rap's reigning champ (and Beyonce's husband) is part memoir, part homage to hip-hop. In it, the man born Shawn Corey Carter, details his humble beginnings in a Brooklyn housing project, his pre-fame job history (drug dealer) and how he managed to become one of the biggest stars on the planet. As ClickTrack detailed yesterday, Jay talks about his tete-a-tete with Barack Obama prior to the 2008 presidential election. I haven't yet gotten to the part --...

Watch Ryan Gosling laugh at his own Internet meme

Perhaps you've already spent a good deal of quality time with the Tumblr blog entitled "[Expletive] Yeah! Ryan Gosling," a series of photos/"Hey Girl" mash notes that easily could be turned into a slow-jam video montage tribute on YouTube. Turns out another person has spent some time looking at all those Hey Girl pics. And his name ... is Ryan Gosling. During a video interview with MTV, he reads a few and is unable to stop himself from giggling. Watch below and enjoy; the Hey Girl part starts after the first two minutes or so of nonsense about how much women love Gosling. (P.S. We seriously hope Anne Hathaway follows Gosling's lead and does a live reading of postings from " ">[Expletive] Yeah! Anne Hathaway" during her Oscar-hosting gig.) Found via Buzzfeed...

Wesley Snipes reportedly in federal custody

Wesley Snipes. (AP) After a long tussle with the Federal government and a 2008 conviction on three counts of failure to file income taxes, Wesley Snipes has reportedly surrendered to a minimum security federal correctional facility in Pennsylvania. Traci Billingsley, chief public information officer for the Bureau of Prisons, told TMZ, "Wesley Snipes has self surrendered to the minimum security Federal Prison Camp at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean, in Bradford, Pennsylvania." In November, U.S. District Court Judge William T. Hodges denied Snipes's appeal and issued a 17-page order specifying that the "Blade" star must surrender to authorities and serve his three-year prison sentence. On Dec. 1, the U.S. Marshals Office ordered Snipes to report to prison by today, Dec. 9. Ranked: 'The Office' Christmas episodes

NBC is devoting tonight's entire Thursday comedy block to the holidays, including a very special Claymation episode of "Community" (Claymation is always special, people) and an hour-long holiday episode of "The Office" in which (per the video preview above) the love of Michael Scott's life returns. Thankfully, Holly will be portrayed by the real Amy Ryan and not a Claymation version. Aside from generating discussion about the imminent departure of Steve Carell, "The Office" admittedly hasn't done a whole lot to generate water cooler chatter these days. But the Dunder Mifflin crew has demonstrated a consistent flair for yuletide episodes. So tonight's installment -- entitled "Classy Christmas," directed by Rainn Wilson and noted as the fifth holiday celebration in the show's history -- will hopefully be a memorable one. Before tonight's "Office" airs, though, let's pause to rank the four previous fa-la-la episodes from best to worst. I'll start,...

Why Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp may not be enough to save 'The Tourist'

Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, just cruisin' in "The Tourist." (Sony) Star power doesn't always translate into fine cinema. Might that be the case for the new Angelina-Jolie-seduces-Johnny-Depp caper "The Tourist"? The star of "Salt" and the actor who made America fall in love with a drunken pirate team up for the first time in this Euro-thriller. The prospect of the intense, sexy pair playing onscreen lovers sounds like a recipe for steamy, high-quality Hollywood escapism, right? Except that -- if early reviews are to be believed -- it isn't. A smattering of critical takes on "The Tourist," and what that reception may tell us about why we go to the movies, follows after the jump....

Howard Stern to stick with SiriusXM for five more years

Howard Stern. (AP) Fans of fart jokes and stripper quiz shows, rejoice: The world's last remaining shock jock, Howard Stern, has re-upped with SiriusXM to remain on the air -- the satellite air, that is -- for the next five years. "I came to the conclusion after speaking to everyone that the real innovators and the real geniuses are the people here, that our home should be at Sirius satellite radio," said Stern on his Thursday morning show. "My answer is that I will be here for the next five years." Earlier this week, it was rumored that Stern was close to a $600 million deal to jump ship and take his eclectic show to iTunes. But, as TheWrap.com reported, Stern seemed like an unlikely fit for the notoriously conservative Apple. According to the Associated Press, Stern had been "locked for months in stormy negotiations" as his original five-year...

Christina Aguilera blames hacker for leaked photos

Christina Aguilera. (AP) Christina Aguilera is blaming hackers for a set of racy photos that turned up online Wednesday. In NSFW pix, which we won't link to here but are easily Google-able for the truly curious, Aguilera poses in what appears to be a walk-in closet. Most of the pix are relatively tame as far as leaked photos of celebs go, with Aguilera posing in panties and a silk robe. There is one, though, in which Aguilera wears only decorative body chains (what? I don't know how else to describe them) and pasties. How burlesque of her! A rep for Aguilera tells TMZ that the photos were "taken in the privacy of Ms. Aguilera's home and were used only in a personal exchange between the star and her stylist." The rep adds that they are now "attempting to determine the identity of the hackers and will pursue them aggressively."...

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon': The trailer arrives

Remember when the third "Transformers" movie was shooting here in Washington? You know, during that time period when Shia LaBeouf threw a cup of coffee at a photographer, then ran away like a frightened fifth grader? The first trailer for that Michael-Bay-meets-Optimus-Prime extravaganza -- formally titled "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" -- is now online. In the clip, we don't see Mr. La Beouf or Josh Duhamel or even Rosie Huntington-Whitely (otherwise known as the new Megan Fox). It focuses primarily on the elements of the story inspired by the Apollo 11 moon landing. Watch and decide whether this feels more like a preview for a "Transformers" movie or a Ron Howard film about an astronaut mission....

Aretha Franklin reportedly has pancreatic cancer

Aretha Franklin. (Reflections Photography) The ailing Aretha Franklin -- who had major surgery just last week-- has pancreatic cancer, according to the Detroit News. Citing a "source familiar with the situation," the News report says the disease is what prompted Franklin to take six months off; the Queen of Soul's publicist, however, has not yet confirmed that information. After her surgery last week, Franklin released a statement that characterized the procedure as "highly successful." A specific prognosis for the legendary singer, who is 68, has not yet been given. Here's hoping she rebounds and start singing about R-E-S-P-E-C-T very soon. Source: Detroit News...

Donna D'Errico outraged about TSA full-body scan

D'Errico in her 'Baywatch' days. (Reuters) Donna D'Errico -- former Playboy Playmate and "Baywatch" babe -- is accusing Transportation Security Administration agents of profiling. D'Errico says she was singled out and subjected to an unnecessary body scan before boarding a recent flight to Pittsburgh with her son Rhyan, 17. A TSA agent allegedly approached her and said she needed to "come this way," she tells AOL News. "I said I was traveling with my son, motioning to him, and the agent said he was to come along with me as well," D'Errico said. "I immediately asked why we were having to go through an extra search, and no one else was being made to do so, indicating the long line of other passengers in front of and behind where we had been in line. In a very sarcastic tone, and still holding me by the elbow, the agent responded,...

Awards season scorecard: Who's won what so far

"The Social Network": off to a strong awards season start. (Sony Via AP) With the Golden Globe Award nominations less than a week away and virtually every critics' association ever conceived -- bet you didn't know there was a Florida Film Critics Circle, did you? -- scrambling to laud the best films of the year, we find ourselves in the thick of awards season. Any self-respecting trophy tracker surely wants to keep tabs on where things stand in the ongoing cinematic congratulation-fest. Is "The King's Speech" emerging as a Best Picture front-runner? Or are those dang kids from "The Social Network" -- with their Internets and what not -- leading the race toward the Oscars? With a few major awards already having been announced, here is where things stand at the moment. (And for the record, we listen to some of you talk about your fantasy football standings ALL...

Man changes his name to 'Captain Awesome': What would you choose?

Oregon native Douglas Allen Smith Jr. officially changed his name to "Captain Awesome" last month. The inspiration, of course, comes from the brother-in-law of one Chuck Bartowski, aka TV's "Chuck," who is fortunate enough to be related to the cardiologist and champion of all things awesome. According to Oregon's Register-Guard, "Captain" is the former Smith's official new first name while "Awesome" is the surname; in a recent interview, he introduced himself by saying, "Hi! I'm Captain." The out-of-work cabinet installer also officially changed his signature to a smiley face. Actor Ryan McPartlin, "Chuck's" Captain Awesome: This got Jen and I thinking about what fictitious names we'd assume if, like Awesome, we ever feel a need to take on new identities based on pop culture characters. Correction: when we feel a need to take on new identities based on pop culture characters. We'll share our choices after the jump, but ask...

'I Am Number Four': The trailer looks like something (or things) we've seen before

Like many people, you probably are struggling to nail down your plans for Feb. 18, 2011. Well, you're in luck. A new trailer for "I Am Number Four" -- a sci-fi thriller based on the book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes -- provides a hint of what may await on that Friday two months from now, assuming that you choose to see "I Am Number Four" on the day it opens. Among other things, you'll be treated to: an alien boy (played by Alex Pettyfer) who apparently is hiding from potential murderers by attending Forks High School; Dianna Agron of "Glee," playing a teen with insecurity issues; supernatural, superheroic feats involving flashes of white light and that appear to have been ripped from a season one episode of "Heroes"; another alien/human who can dash along walls during action sequences, "Matrix"-style; and a kid whose unusual powers are vital to...

Jessica Simpson, budding billionaire?

Simpson's silver sequin dress -- your holiday party look for just $148? (Photo courtesy Jessica Simpson Collection) It turns out that while the tabloids were busy dishing up low blows about whether or not Jessica Simpson was pushing maximum density, she was laughing all the way to the bank. Simpson may be the celebrity brand to beat going in to 2011. In 2010 alone, Simpson-branded products pulled in a jaw-dropping $750 million in profits. Kind of makes Kim Kardashian's $6 million look like chump change, eh? Simpson -- the erstwhile singer, actress, reality TV show star and tabloid staple who was once jeered for her fashion missteps -- apparently has a talent for turning out jeans, shoes, swimwear, watches and perfumes that consumers can't resist. "She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her," Vince Camuto, founder and CEO of Camuto Group, which is Simpson's...

Help Wanted: Randy and Evi Quaid ISO ghost writer

Mug shots of Randy Quaid and wife Evi after they were arrested in September. (AP) Randy and Evi Quaid, who we last left hiding out in Canada from "star whackers" are, according to Radar Online, hunting for a ghost writer to help them pen a tell all. A book that will, we're sure, vindicate them in the matter of not paying for hotel stays, missing multiple court dates, barricading themselves in their former residence and racing off to Canada to avoid being killed by a ruthless gang who (according to the Quaids) also conspired to kill Heath Ledger, Christopher Penn and Ronni Chasen. It's not clear from Radar's story whether or not the Quaids understand that a ghost writer is not actually the spirit of a departed person, which could dash any hopes of enlisting Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce or H.P. Lovecraft to share the writing credits. Though Bruce...

Kim Kardashian is TV's top-earning reality star

(AP) There is money to be made if you are possessed of a.) a fading celebrity, b.) little talent but much ego, c.) a big butt and/or well-placed implants, d.) multiple children and a bad attitude, e.) a substance abuse problem or f.) all of the above. Which is why hopefuls from David Hasselhoff ("The Hasselhoffs") to self-absorbed club kids ("The Hills," "Jersey Shore") are busy jumping on the reality TV money train. And, according to a new report from the Daily Beast, Kim Kardashian is the top-earning reality TV star on 2010 with $6 million in earnings. That includes her pay for E!'s coma-inducing "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," but the famous-for-being-famous Kardashian also rakes in big bucks thanks to endorsement deals, party-hosting gigs, sponsored tweets and her own klothing clothing line. James Franco: A peek inside the buzziest actor of 2010's mind

It was back in 1999 when we first met a young James Franco. And by "met" I mean, of course, first saw him and fell head over heels for his "Freaks and Geeks" character, Daniel Desario -- the rebel with a heart of gold. He was the thinking woman's Jordan Catalano. A Dylan Walsh, hold the cheese. In a word, he was perfect. A little more than a decade later and Franco, now all of 32, has quietly become the most talked-about man in showbiz. He's generating Oscar buzz for his portrayal of trapped (we'll leave it at that) hiker Aron Ralston in "127 Hours." He appeared in a brilliantly over-acted "General Hospital" story arc -- a genre that most "serious actors" would avoid like the plague. And speaking of things serious actors would sidestep, Franco also appeared in drag on the cover of Candy magazine earlier this year. He...

Danny Bonaduce and 'American Gladiator' Alex 'Militia' Castro bare their bellies for the cameras at 2008's premiere of NBC's long gone 'Knight Rider.' And, no, he didn't marry Castro. (Getty Images) Sorry ladies, Danny Bonaduce is no longer on the market. The former child actor ("The Partridge Family") and pumped up reality TV subject ("Breaking Bonaduce") married girlfriend Amy Railsback on Nov. 22 in Maui, reports People.com. Bonaduce, 51, and his bride -- a 28-year-old former substitute teacher who is now his manager -- sealed their love with a $400 "sterling silver diamond crusted skull and crossbones" wedding ring. But, fear not, Bonaduce also gave Railsback a more run-of-the-mill diamond ring in a white gold setting. "Danny realized I might not want to wear a skull and crossbones every day," said Railsback to People. This is Bonaduce's third marriage. He was married to real estate agent Setsuko Hattori from...

'The Beaver': Jodie Foster's bad bet on Mel Gibson

From 2006, Mel Gibson's Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office booking photo. (Getty Images) Why is Jodie Foster -- an actress/director who truly deserving of respect -- trying to trick us into liking Mel Gibson again? Obviously, it won't work. I mean, duh. But why would Foster even think that "The Beaver" -- her latest directorial effort, starring Mel Gibson as a guy who (stop me if this sounds familiar) loses it all and finds redemption and happiness again courtesy of a hand puppet -- would lull us into forgetting that the guy is an unapologetic mysoginistic anti-Semite who repeatedly calls his ex to unleash a torrent of expletives and threats? Foster has been one of Gibson's staunchest supporters since his image took a massive hit in 2006 when, upon arrest for drunk driving, he used the opportunity to make it pretty clear that he doesn't have any respect for...

'Tangled' tops a weak post-Thanksgiving box office

'Tangled.' (Disney Enterprises Inc.) In what Box Office Mojo describes as the "least attended post-Thanksgiving weekend since 1997," "Tangled" managed to push "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" out of the top box office spot. In other news, "Black Swan" is not only racking up rave reviews, but totally owning the indie box office....

'Walking Dead' season 1 finale: 'TS-19'; season 2 due late in 2011

If you haven't yet watched last night's show, beware. There be spoilers here, proceed with caution... Just as we were really getting into "Walking Dead" (AKA "That Show on AMC That Isn't About Hot Advertising Execs in Retro Clothes or Meth Cookers"), it came to an abrupt, explosive end with Sunday's sixth, season closing episode. The good news? AMC has already picked up the show for a second season. The bad news? That season likely won't begin until next October at the earliest. In the meantime, six takeaweays and/or questions (hey, you can't expect me to have all the answers when Jen's on vacation) from last night's finale:...
