Bill O'Reilly grills Barbara Walters about Oprah lesbian question
As it turns out, the most fascinating person of the week may be Barbara Walters.
Well, let's be realistic and call her "the most fascinating person of the past 24 hours who happened to have two splashy interview specials air on ABC Thursday night and has been dive-bombing other talk shows to promote the heck out of them."
First, in an appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor," O'Reilly -- or "Billy," as Babs calls him -- registered his dismay with Walters's insistence on asking Oprah Winfrey if she is a lesbian. Oprah's answer, which we included in yesterday's Morning Mix? No.
The exchange is worth watching, though, if only to soak up the irony of O'Reilly intimating that Walters is not a real journalist:
O'Reilly went on to ask Walters if she'd inquired about Sarah Palin's sexuality and grill Babs on why it is that the cast of "Jersey Shore" (or, as he termed them, "pinheads") are so fascinating.
Meanwhile, did Walters perhaps engage in a bit of hyperbole when she called Oprah "the best interviewer ever" at the Kennedy Center Honors? Our own Lisa de Moraes details Walters's coy attempts to distance herself from the comment on Thursday's "The View" and Wednesday night's "Late Show with David Letterman."
