Norwegian talk show gathers stars of the '80s for puzzling Beatles cover song video

By Liz Kelly

What better way to close out the week than by watching Huey Lewis, George Wendt, Steve Guttenberg, Tonya Harding, Roger Moore, Philip Michael Thomas, David Faustino, Alphonso Ribeiro and basically every other bold-namer who we thought was safely stowed away back in the '80s sing "Let It Be" in front of a green screen in a promo for a Norwegian talk show?

But, um, what is Glenn Close doing with this crowd? I guess "Fatal Attraction" qualified her for inclusion?

Credit for this juicy find goes to BlogPost's Melissa Bell, tireless locator of really important stuff.

(If your appetite has only been whetted, there's more after the jump, )

Bonus! It's "We Are the World" as interpreted by Lou Gossett Jr., Larry Hagman, Lorenzo Lamas, Linda Evans and more:

All right, it's very sick and wrong for me to think that the "Let It Be" video is kind of awesome. I know that, okay?

I'm just wondering *how* sick and wrong it is for me to think that.

Glyne Tider ("Golden times," according to the Google-translated version of the Norwegian wikipedia page), is a tv series hosted by presenter Øyvind Mund, cameraman Steinar Marthinsen and sound engineer Ingar Thorsen (I assume they're those three guys in red) "who travel around and meet their barndoms-/ungdomshelter." If you try those words on their own, you'll get "childhood heroes."

But enough about the Norwegians. Watch the video just for Katarina Witt and tell me she's not still hot enough to make a bishop kick out a stained glass window. Gott in Himmel!

Glenn Close got her musical start in the cloying "Up With People" chorus. Fortunately, she escaped.

Did Kathleen Turner sing bass?

byoolin, you DO know that Katarina Witt prefers to dally with married men, don't you? Not that she could ever compare to the Lovely Mrs. Byoolin™, of course.

Or is it The Lovely Mrs. Byoolin© or The Lovely Mrs. Byoolin®? There must be a lawyer in the house who can unravel this mystery for us.
