#prayforjustin to save us from a dull Friday afternoon

We're sure that when it started, the trending Twitter hashtag #prayforjustin was legit. Or as legit as a trending hashtag can be. The 16-year-old wunderkind perhaps has a cold. It's also possible he's going for a checkup . . . or not. He did in fact hurt his knee back in November, but what's a few months when your demigod is in trouble? But predictably, thankfully, the hashtag quickly devolved into an utter hate fest with people chiding Bieber fans (who probably totally heart Kenneth Cole shoes) for worrying about The Bieb when people are dying in Egypt. .bbpBox33603598982062080 {background:url(http://a0.twimg.com/profile_background_images/201002505/235435390.jpg) #ffffff;padding:20px;} p.bbpTweet{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 10px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px !important;line-height:22px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata{display:block;width:100%;clear:both;margin-top:8px;padding-top:12px;height:40px;border-top:1px solid #fff;border-top:1px solid #e6e6e6} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author{line-height:19px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author img{float:left;margin:0 7px 0 0px;width:38px;height:38px} p.bbpTweet a:hover{text-decoration:underline}p.bbpTweet span.timestamp{font-size:12px;display:block} There's a raging war in Egypt and people are dying but a teenage pop singer is a little unwell, so obviously we should #prayforjustin!less than...

Gwyneth Paltrow, Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore to perform at the Oscars

Gwyneth Paltrow, at the mic again on Oscar night. (Screen Gems) Because singing at the Country Music Association Awards wasn't enough, Gwyneth Paltrow will be back for more at this year's Oscars. The Academy announced that Paltrow will be among the performers bringing to life this year's nominees for best song during the Feb. 27 ceremony. Paltrow will croon "Coming Home" from her twangy melodrama "Country Strong." Also taking the stage: Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore, doing "I See the Light" from Disney's "Tangled"; A.R. Rahman and Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine (awesome) with "If I Rise" from "127 Hours"; and Oscar perennial Randy Newman, singing "We Belong Together" from "Toy Story 3." (Hopefully he'll follow that up with a spontaneous medley of "Short People" and "I Love L.A.") Truly there's something here for everyone: people who love "Chuck," the song "Dog Days Are Over," the delightfully...

Super Bowl: Best non-football moments ever from Super Bowl Sundays past

Terry Tate (aka Lester Speight), office linebacker. (Reebok) Before the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers battle for the title of Super Bowl XLV champs -- and before we're subjected to the sight of Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne in a Best Buy commercial -- let's pause for a bit of list-oriented Super Bowl nostalgia. Today we offer our rundown of some of the best moments from Super Bowls past -- from finest halftime show to, of course, the best commercial featuring an office linebaker. We did our best to be definitive, but odds are we left out something important. So by all means rectify any oversights by posting a comment about your favorite Super Bowl moment. Howard Stern on David Letterman: Jay Leno is 'horrible'

We're pretty sure Howard Stern wasn't booked on Thursday night's "Late Show" to trash David Letterman's nemesis, Jay Leno, but that's exactly what he did, uninterrupted, for about four and a half minutes. And, really, could Letterman have stopped him? Not that he tried, but ......

Video: Justin Bieber takes over 'The Daily Show'

So Justin Bieber hosted "The Daily Show" last night and welcomed guest Navy Admiral Mike Mullen. Actually he only hosted it for about 10 seconds during a gag in which he and Jon Stewart switched bodies, part of an elaborate, semi-comedic scheme to promote the Biebs biopic "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never." But the ruse lasted long enough to make it possible to imagine a world with Bieber as talk show host. It's okay if you spontaneously shivered just then. Watch the switcheroo below. The post-Super Bowl slot: The most and least memorable TV it's given us

Snagging the post-Super Bowl time slot is supposed to be a feat, the equivalent of earning a pop-cultural trophy. From a television ratings perspective, it usually is and probably will be for this year's post-Super Bowl scheduling winner, "Glee." But how many of the much-hyped, just-after-the-big-game TV moments have really made an impact -- either delivered quality entertainment or kick-started a series with genuine staying power? Honestly, only a handful. Let's highlight a few that stick out in our minds and a few of the many that decidedly do not. Oh, and let's also take note of the common denominator among many of the best post-Super Bowl TV episodes; they tend to coincide with a certain team winning the game that preceded them....

Year of the Rabbit celebs: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and Zac Efron

Rabbit ruled Kate Winslet. (Getty Images) People born in the Year of the Rabbit are reportedly articulate, talented and ambitious. Which may explain why so many Hollywood A-listers were born in the years associated with this Chinese zodiac animal: Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Zac Efron, Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, David Beckham -- to name just a few. But what significance will the sign have for babies due to be born between now and Jan. 22, 2012? Considering the number of celebs expecting bundles of joy in 2011 -- including Pink, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Jewel, Marion Cotillard, Victoria Beckham, Jane Krakowski and Jennifer Connelly -- we thought it would be a good idea to do a little research....

Kristen Stewart gets closer to becoming Snow White

Kristen Stewart, possibly seeking a Prince Charming that isn't Edward Cullen.(ABC) Imagine Kristen Stewart -- the conflicted, angst-ridden Bella Swan from the "Twilight" movies -- as Snow White. Now get used to that idea because, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it looks like it's going to happen. The industry publication reports that Universal -- the studio behind "Snow White and the Huntsman," one of three high-profile Snow White projects currently floating around Hollywood -- has offered Stewart the role, following on rumors that the actress had emerged as the front-runner for the part. Negotiations are still in progress, but it's appears likelier that Stewart may be biting into a poison apple very soon. At first blush, this seems like an odd choice. One envisions Stewart as a Snow White who runs her fingers through her hair constantly, anxiously biting her lower lip because the prince simply isn't coming. And...

Halle Berry does not want Kim Kardashian anywhere near her kid

Halle Berry, not a Kardashian fan. (AP) Somehow the ubiquitous Kim Kardashian has managed to insinuate herself into the custody battle beteween Halle Berry and ex Gabriel Aubry over two-year-old daughter Nahla. According to People, Berry was very upset when she found out Aubry had gone out on two dates with Kardashian back in November. It should be noted that Kardashian quickly moved on and is now dating pro basketball player Kris Humphries. "Halle was very upset," a source tells People. "She was upset at the idea of someone like that being in her daughter's life. She did not want a reality star in Nahla's life. She was very aggravated." But, added the source, Berry's reaction had nothing to do with jealousy and everything to do with not wanting her daughter exposed to reality show cameras. In other ugly custody battle-related allegations, sources tell TMZ that Aubry repeatedly called...

Charlie Sheen likens himself to Errol Flynn

Charlie Sheen. (Getty Images) A week after being hospitalized following a night of binge-drinking, Charlie Sheen admits that he has "a lot of work to do" and likens himself to Errol Flynn, "who had to put down his sword on occasion." In a statement to Us, Sheen writes: "I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people. I want to say 'thank-you' to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men, and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum for their concern and support. Farrah Fawcett's iconic red swimsuit donated to Smithsonian

Children of the 1970s will remember this poster. A carefree Farrah Fawcett -- all limbs and tan and bouncy bountiful hair -- flashing her million dollar smile at the camera. The poster was a staple on walls everywhere from my brother's room to mechanics' garages. As of Wednesday, on what would have been her 64th birthday, the poster -- along with the original red one-piece Fawcett wore -- are part of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's collection. According to Smithsonian curator David Bowers, the poster remains the best-selling poster of all time (though this one might beg to differ). "They asked her years ago for the bathing suit," said longtime companion Ryan O'Neal, pictured above waving goodbye to the swimsuit. "So it was always in her plan." Also on hand in D.C. for the Wednesday donation ceremony, Fawcett's son with O'Neal, Redmond, and O'Neal's daughter, Tatum. Source:...

Our favorite 'Lost' stars: where are they a year later?

The "Lost" line-up.(ABC) We all know what today is. And no, I don't mean Groundhog Day. On this date, one year ago, the final season of "Lost" began. Think back to Feb. 2, 2010 -- back then, you didn't think there would eventually be an uprising against Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, did you? You also totally didn't see Dogen coming either, I'll bet. (Hey, few of us did.) To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the "Lost" end, we decided to catch up with some -- though hardly all -- of the stars from our bewildering, maddening, beloved island adventure. Join us on this brief journey, which will not involve any plane crashes or references to golden bodies of water. We promise....

Britney Spears, 'Femme Fatale,' tweets pic of new album cover

Since Britney Spears has 6,737,793 Twitter followers and counting, we're going to go ahead and assume that there's some interest in her new album cover. Well, the wait is over. Moments ago -- after posting a series of cryptic tweets ("Sexy and strong," "dangerous yet mysterious," "cool yet confident," "cheezy yet trite" -- okay we made that last one up), Brit shared this photo of her new album cover which is cleverly and originally titled "Femme Fatale": In January, we got a preview with the single "Hold It Against Me." Expect the full album to drop in March....

Rihanna's 'S&M' video: Too hot for your computer?

Rihanna is courting controversy with the kinky video for her new single "S&M." According to the U.K.'s Mirror, the video is already banned in 11 countries and MTV is working on a toned down recut. We've got Ri-Ri writhing around in a range of skin-tight latex outfits, looking sexy, as expected. What's not sexy is the images of reporters wearing ball gags and a leashed Perez Hilton pretending to whiz on a fire hydrant (we're still washing out our eyes). Video imagery aside, the lyrics tend toward the raunchy, too: "Whips and chains excite me," " Sex in the air, I love the smell of it." Ummm, eww. This is definitely not a choice for the junior cotillion playlist. Watch the utterly NSFW video. What do you think? Controversy fodder or much ado about nothing?...

Celebrating Groundhog Day, Bill Murray-style?

It's Groundhog Day, the holiday responsible for two important contributions to American culture: the annual Pennsylvania ritual in which a creature named Phil supposedly tells us whether we can stop being cold soon, and the fine Bill Murray comedy "Groundhog Day." Now that we know spring is coming early (allegedly), we turn our mental attention to another question: How will you, the pop culturally obsessed, choose to celebrate this Groundhog Day? Please, ignore your own shadows for a moment so you can take our poll below and weigh in. (And if you're living a life that's anything like Bill Murray's in the aforementioned movie, you'll probably take this poll at least one more time.)...

Lindsay Lohan suspected in jewel heist; Zsa Zsa Gabor back in hospital

Lindsay Lohan. (AP) Update: Lindsay Lohan is denying a report that she walked out of an L.A. store with a necklace worth $2,500 (its value has apparently been halved since this morning's first report, below). --- (Originally posted at 8:41 a.m. ET) Lindsay Lohan has reportedly turned over a piece of jewelry worth $5,000 to cops. According to TMZ, the owner of an L.A. store last week filed a police report about the missing bling and handed over a store surveillance video in which Lohan was seen wearing the necklace before it disappeared. Police were apparently in the process of getting a search warrant when the jewelry was returned by one of Lohan's pals. Ricky Gervais clarifies this Golden Globes business

Gervais, clarifying the latest Globes "controversy." (AP) Yesterday we noted that Ricky Gervais said he was asked to host the Golden Globe Awards again next year, despite unleashing a barrage of jokes this year that may have insulted some members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and, apparently, delighted a good many viewers. Well, it turns out the informal invitation extended to Gervais came from an executive at NBC, not anyone with the HFPA. The HFPA, for its part, issued a statement announcing that "We have not asked him to come back." Gervais confirmed that fact in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: "At no point did I talk to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. I'm absolutely sure they don't want me back." And with that, we've managed to talk about the Golden Globes again, even though they took place more than two weeks ago and we all should...

The Oscar curse is real. Science says so.

Sandra Bullock: evidence of an Oscar trend or curse? (AP) There is no longer any need to speculate about whether there's a curse on the women who win an Oscar for best actress. It's fact. And some researchers at the University of Toronto have confirmed it ... kind of. As the Huffington Post reported, the recently released study examined the marital statuses of the Academy Award-winning actresses from 1936 to the present and found that winners were 1.68 times more likely to divorce post-Oscar than the losing nominees. And of the 236 married nominees, nearly 60 percent of them wound up divorced after Oscar night. The study found that, by contrast, best actor winners were not more likely to divorce than nominees in that category. Tiziana Casciaro, one of the researchers, tells the Huff Post that the data indicate that "status changes" -- otherwise known as major professional achievements...

Is Charlie Sheen getting a pass because he's a guy?

Charlie Sheen. (AP) If Charlie Sheen hasn't yet hit bottom, it's only because he's holding on with his fingernails. After alleged booze- and drug-fueled trips to Las Vegas and a house party that, according to TMZ, featured a "suitcase full of cocaine," the "Two and a Half Men" star is in self-imposed lockdown and his hit CBS show is on hiatus. On Friday, Sheen reportedly checked in to rehab, but Tuesday we learned that he appears to be rehabbing in his own home. Yes, the same house where he last week reportedly partied with a fun pack of porn stars and that suitcase full of coke. And, according to Margaret Hartmann at Jezebel, Sheen is getting his "400th media pass while Lindsay Lohan's [who has also struggled with addiction] ruined her career forever." Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore booed in Brazil

So what if they're drop-dead gorgeous and stinking rich? Brazilians wait for no man. Or woman. Or celeb couple. Or, okay, they won't wait three hours for Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Ricky Gervais asked to host the Golden Globes a third time

Gervais, going for a Golden Globes hat trick? (AP) Ricky Gervais -- the same guy who was blasted by many for being too rude during this year's Golden Globe Awards -- has apparently been asked to serve a third term as host of the show. In a Globes diary published in the British magazine Heat, Gervais writes: "The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. I don't think I should. I don't know what I could do better. I certainly couldn't get more press for them." So apparently the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association actually wasn't that offended during the Globes when Gervais jokingly accused him of wearing dentures and being unable to use the loo on his own. Because the ratings were strong. And they could be even stronger next year if Gervais hosts again. And that would mean...

Tyler Perry to play Alex Cross

Tyler Perry, primed to solve crimes. (AP) Tyler Perry has signed on to play the role of Alex Cross -- the crime-solving D.C. detective in James Patterson's seemingly never-ending series of popular novels -- in a new movie called "I, Alex Cross." The Wrap and other outlets have confirmed the news, which gives Perry a high-profile starring role in a movie that is not a Perry production. Until now, the filmmaker has primarily tackled two major movie parts: Terry, the perfect husband in his "Why Did I Get Married?" movies, and Madea. You know Madea. She hosted a family reunion. And later, she went to jail. (For the record, Perry also appeared briefly in J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek.") So can Perry pull off Alex Cross, a role previously played onscreen by Morgan Freeman in "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider"? And in a related question, what happened...

SAG Awards 2011: The best E! red-carpet moments

No awards show is complete without some awkward red-carpet banter. And no one does awkward red-carpet banter better than the people at E! As proof, here are some of the more stellar moments from last night's SAG Awards pregame show. Tracy Morgan brings a couple pockets full of crazy to his interview with Giuliana Rancic, which culminates with his declaration that Sarah Palin is "the hottest MILF in the world," the natural follow-up to his comments about the former Alaska governor last week on TNT. Somehow Rancic missed that whole controversy, and her confusion only adds to the hilarity. John Krasinski gets his feelings hurt, reveals that Rancic is actually animatronic and completely wins the hearts of every red-carpet-show viewer in America. Kim Kardashian upset about W photo shoot: 'I'm more naked than I was in Playboy'

Back in October, Kim Kardashian appeared confident and totally naked, save for some well-placed headlines, on the cover of W magazine. But, as we've now learned courtesy of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," the apparently prim reality show star is anything but pleased about a photo shoot that she calls "full on porn." "Oh my God, I'm more naked than I was in Playboy," said a distraught Kardashian. "I'm so mad right now. [W] promised I would be covered with artwork. You can see nipple. The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen". "I feel so taken advantage of," sobbed Kim to sisters Khloe and Kourtney. "I've definitely learned my lesson. I'm never taking my clothes off again, even if it's for Vogue." The full NSFW photo spread can be seen online. Look really close and you may even see the pain in Kim's...

Henry Cavill cast as new Superman. Wait -- who?

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Henry Cavill! (AP) Despite our best efforts on his behalf, Jon Hamm has not been cast as Superman. But, hey, in our book, he'll always be super. Super duper, even. Instead, Henry Cavill, who is best known to American audiences as Charles Brandon on Showtime's "The Tudors," landed the role of the red-caped superhero in the Zack Snyder ("300")-directed reboot. The movie is expected to hit theaters in December 2012. Each generation has its own Man of Steel. For us, it will forever be Christopher Reeve, who bested his Lex Luthor -- Gene Hackman -- and thugs like Ned Beatty and turned the world back in time to save his Lois, Margot Kidder. The franchise was last -- and briefly -- resuscitated in 2006, with Brandon Routh in the title role, Kate Bosworth cast as Lane and Kevin Spacey as Luthor. Source:...

SAG Awards 2011: The surprises, snubs and a complete list of winners

Natalie Portman, winning again. (AP) | Photo gallery The SAG Awards, like most of the ceremonies in this awards season, didn't deliver too many surprises. The few unexpected moments that did arise mostly involved an 89-year-old woman and Natalie Portman's use of a semi-profane word. Let's discuss those, as well as the snubs (which largely landed on the TV side), then run down the complete list of winners. Related coverage: SAG Awards: Live Tweeting SAG Award Photos...

On SNL, Mark Zuckerberg meets Jesse Eisenberg

In an appearance that generated plenty of advance buzz, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg stood side by side last night with SNL host Jesse Eisenberg, attempting to demonstrate that he totally has a sense of humor about looking like a weasel in a film that stands among the front runners for Oscar's best picture. Was he successful? More or less, although it's clear that Zuckerberg definitely should hang on to his day job as head of Facebook; his line delivery probably did not convince Lorne Michaels that he should regularly appear in sketches alongside Kristen Wiig. But he showed up on SNL with a smile on his face, made it clear he has no hard feelings about the success of "The Social Network" and added another degree of cultural relevancy to a movie that now must persuade Oscar voters that it is, indeed, the film of the year. If you missed...
